Trying to remember the name of a game show

The main thing that I remember about this show is that behind the players was a bunch of steps and on the steps were about 100 large boxes. The boxes were made to look like they were gift wrapped. They were labled from 1 to 100(?). If you won you got to select a box. In each box was a card with the name of a prize written on it. The show aired in the U.S. in the late 70’s.

It’s been driving Mrs. H and I crazy. What was the name of the show? What were the rules?

TIA,
Haj

If it’s the same one I’m thinking of, it may have been “Pitfall”. I have a vague memory of the boxes and the steps, and a young looking Alex Trebek.

I looked up Pitfall at IMDB it didn’t sound quite right.

This search yields a promising premise. “The New Treasure Hunt.” But still not perfect. Check it out.

It’s a remake of this show.

That certainly sounds like “Treasure Hunt” to me. The contestant would pick a number, and the beautiful assistant would hunt down the box and bring it to the host (Geoff Edwards?). Then there would be a series of discoveries as the host pulled out various objects until the final prize for that box was revealed. However, if the box contained the $50,000 check, he would just pull out the prize and the celebration would begin (I think balloons and confetti would drop from the ceiling). I enjoyed watching the show when I was younger, and the above is from the best of my memory.

That’s it!! Well done. Many thanks.

What I described was a 30 year old recolection from childhood. It’s funny how I pictured 100 boxes in my mind but there were only 30. I had totally forgotton about the pop-up flowers in the beginning and the skits.
