Is there some sort of list that shows all of the names of those who have died in the disaster who live there from this country or who may have been there on vacation? I Googled it , but I got nowhere tyanks
I don’t know that there is a roster anywhere that’s accessible. Which country are you in and what exactly are you looking for?
It’ll be weeks, months or years before a final casualty list is established. It took months after 9/11 - now multiply the deaths by fifty, and expand it from three isolated locations to many thousands of miles.
Well, that makes sense. Oh, I am in the USA.
If they DID have a list, do you have any idea where I would look for it?
Individual country’s foreign departments maintain lists of their own citizens - they’re responsible for ensuring bodies are ID-ed correctly and are returned to families. What information is released into the public domain is up to them. If you’re trying to track down somebody in particular, the Red Cross is the best place to start. Other than that, I doubt a single list will ever be created - it would be an enourmous task, with little benefit once done.
Thanks for that info. I will check red X, but I now see how daunting a task it would be.
Many isolated communities have been completely wiped out. Without survivors there may be no way to know who was killed.
