TubaDiva has passed away

Ah, damn. Jenny was, undeniably, the heart and soul of the SDMB. Her hard work has given pleasure and respite to so many people for decades. I offer heartfelt condolences to her family and friends, including all her friends here who she loved, who loved her in return.

I’m very sorry to hear this.

Oh no this is awful! She worked so hard to try to improve this place her memory really will be eternal.

Deepest condolences to her friends IRL and online and her family as well.

Her obituary has been updated here:

One of about the only things I was disappointed about regarding this move is that I lost my PMs. It didn’t occur to me to save them. Some were from Jenny. Fortunately, I’m not very good about emptying my old emails so I still have the messages and notifications. There were a few times when I was impatient with the board’s direction, but she always wrote thoughtful, kind responses.

She loved this board and was the heart of it. I hope we can keep it going in a way that would make her happy.

Unrelated to the subject of TubaDiva’s passing, but my PMs carried over. They’re under the envelope icon on my profile page.

Hear hear. I don’t know when I last posted, but I’m sure it was when someone died. I haven’t followed the boards in ages, but still interact daily with some of you I’ve known for 20 years now. I’m grateful for all her work keeping this old place going.

Holy shit! I can’t believe it. My stomach clenched tightly when I read the thread title and OP. :frowning: She gave so many hours (days, months, years) of her life to us malcontents and I know I didn’t express my appreciation nearly often enough.

She changed the course of thousands of people’s lives. I hope she knew that. You’ll be sorely missed, Jenny.

Wholeheartedly agree with this and was thinking the same. I feel guilty for all the whinging I did while she was busting her ass to help fix the site.

I, and we all, owe her an enormous debt of gratitude for keeping the site up and running when the old system seemed possessed and determined to keep crashing on us.

She kept her composure and cool throughout all of our incessant thrashing about over the site’s problems. She just seemed like a purely classy person.

I’m stunned and truly sorry she’s gone. My heartfelt condolences to her family and to those here in particular who knew her in the real world.

You’re absolutely right! Thank you.

I’ve been refreshing the Wages Funeral Home page, hoping for an obituary that would give some more details. Finally, there’s an obit posted, but it only says “passed away”. Does anyone have a clue as to what happened?

Terrible news. This is so sad.

Like many in their mid-60’s she suffered from many chronic health problems which I’m not going to discuss, but several of which (or a combination thereof) put her at risk of severe illness or worse.

I am utterly saddened by her passing. She and I had a few tuba related conversations via FaceBook messenger. Had I known that she was a juggler also, I would have told that I am as well. Funny, that.

I’ll work on a tuba tribute for the CS thread. Maybe Amazing Grace, maybe something else. If I can play.

Thank you. That’s as much as I need to know. Bye, Jenny.

For TubaDiva, with love and thanks…

It has only been two days. If it was both sudden and unexpected then the family might not know for certain either.

I’m really sorry to hear this. I respected her a lot.

Very sorry to hear this. :frowning:
