I know she was really big in to the Tubachristmas celebration. She did it every year like I did (not at the same one I went to). At our Tubachristmas they pass around a bucket to collect money that goes to the Low Brass scholarship at the University of Akron.
Perhaps there’s a Low Brass scholarship at her alma mater we can donate to? Perhaps directly?
I hadn’t interacted with Jenny often, but she was always patient, and eternally dedicated to keeping this crazy community going.
She and I did have a conversation a few months ago, about how to address the long-term decline in the SDMB’s readership/participation levels, and how I might be able to use my professional skills, as an ad guy, to help. That got back-burnered, in favor of getting the board software issue fixed, and I had been planning to follow up with her in a few weeks, once the dust from the transfer to Discourse had settled.
I haven’t been around the boards much in recent years, but we interacted on Facebook fairly regularly. (God, the last direct interaction we had was when she Paypal-ed me a few bucks to thank me for a connection that got her a freelance gig – a totally unnecessary gesture.)
If you have the means, consider sending flowers to her family using that link. Otherwise, leave a message in her memory using that link so her loved ones know how much she meant to this community.
I truly regret that we didn’t show the appreciation she was due for all she did for our community.
Mods, I know all you hear are the complaints, but every day we log in is our silent thanks. We shouldn’t be so silent, it is too late to tell her, but thank you so much all for all you do. We couldn’t be here without you.
I hope that we can show our thanks to TubaDiva by continuing the legacy that she worked so hard to create.
