Blue Ruin, I don’t know where you live, but where I am it’s a beautiful day: The sky is sunny, the breeze is light, the snow is melting and the first shoots of snowdrops and crocuses are bursting through the surface.
It’s a day to smile and celebrate the end of winter.
It’s a day to call your parents to tell them you love them, just because they’re still alive and you can call them, which won’t be true for always.
It’s a day to go for a walk, and smile at your neighbors who are walking their dogs.
It’s a day to skip stones across a pond that is now freshly free of ice.
It’s a day to wander the local nursery and dream of summer’s glories.
It’s a day to ride your bike.
It’s a day to play catch with your daughter.
It’s a day to fly a kite.
It’s a day to help your son with his school project.
It’s a day to snooze in the pool of warm sunlight on your couch.
It’s a day to help your sib repaint her kitchen.
It’s a day to play frisbee with your dog.
It’s a day to have a 'nooner with your SO.
It’s a day full of myriad wonderful possibilities, all of which will add to the joy in your life, and maybe even in the lives of others.
Isn’t there a single other thing you’d rather be doing with this glorious day we’ve been given than bashing away at the same old topic here?
