Tucker Carlson Leaves Fox News

So, no worries then about any future elections. Demographics have solved the problem, our side will win, sit back and relax. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

'Zactly.

You can encounter plenty of raging RW conservatives in their twenties. For whom racism is a feature, not a bug. It may not be the central feature, but it’s still important. If you hang out where they are. Which is not in the big cities nor on most college campuses.

Alexander King once wrote a book titled Mine Enemy Grows Older.

Yes, I’m sure Fox is trying to manipulate public opinion, but that’s nothing new. I’m glad that their manipulation is now targeting a bad person, instead of targeting decent people.

I think it’s very unlikely this latest text was the basis for Tucker’s firing – it’s racist but tame racism by Tucker standards.

But I’m talking about the manipulation targeted at the audience.

…who, right now are also bad people, but they’ve been engineered thus. With an understanding of reality anywhere near accurate, many or most would just transform into normal people.

At least this is a fact – they’re releasing facts about Tucker Carlson. It’s hard to see releasing facts about Carlson as a bad thing, whatever the motives. I hope and wish they release all the facts about Carlson they have, but some is better than none.

The way I see it as long as Carlson and Fox News get into a mierda-flinging war, it’s all good news and a weakening of the GOP propaganda machine.

I can unreservedly support this RW circular firing squad, though – truth be told – I thought that was classically our thing.

[“enemy of my enemy” and all that rot…]

This is crazy talk. And people are basically the same. Unless you reduce people to their politics.

It’s less damaging, perhaps, than the racist calls to arms that he has regularly vomited on the air. But those on-the-air comments, as vile as they were, were coded just enough to deny explicit racism. To be clear, I don’t think the racism was very well camouflaged—we all knew what he was saying.

But this was an explicit comment that white people are superior, and typically not inclined toward the type of dishonorable behavior that lesser races are.

Who was this “Antifa kid” that the MAGAs were kicking the shit out of on 1/6/21? Unless he was wearing a police uniform, I missed it.

It’s a handy excuse, a way for Fox to argue “see, we’re not racist! We fire people for even minor (explicit) racism!”

I still think the real reason is sexual harassment, and will eventually come out in the Grossberg lawsuit.

May have been looking at footage from some other incident, even if he saw it on 1/6 or 1/7. Lacking the actual timestamps I can only speculate.

But I would not be surprised if the networks ran other riot footage especially afterwards, for background about rising violence.

I was confused about that, too. I thought no Antifa were at the Capital that day. I certainly have seen no video of this incident.

JD Vance explains why Tucker’s most recent (racist) revelation … isn’t so bad:

Sen. JD Vance argued the text was “actually quite introspective” and “reflected well on him.”

I get it. It’s the equivalent of people defending Donald Trump, in this E. Jean Carroll trial, by saying “This particular rape case isn’t so bad. Trump usually smacks them around quite a bit afterward.”

What if it was a personal decision by Rupert Murdoch? He would have consulted with his son Lachlan, but I think Lachlan is unlikely to have pushed back hard on his father.

If so, Rupert is the only one who knows for sure. At most we will find out what Rupert told someone else was the reason, but there will be no reason to trust that information.

There are so many possibilities. I can’t think Carlson losing advertisers was irrelevant, even though it was not current. I can see Rupert coming to think that something he heard, or read, of Carlson’s reminds him of the right-wing extremist woman he was engaged to until he broke it off last month.

Except, of course, for the 20 or so who were disguised as MAGAites that actually incited the riot.

Not just Fox, it also takes Conservative Talk Radio, OAN, and others.

It looks to me like Fox is tossing out red meat on the Tucker story to use him as the equivalent of a thermal flare dropped from a jet being targeted by a heat-seeking missile.
