Tucker Carlson Leaves Fox News

Ain’t nothing “acceptable and liberal” about La Jolla.

The times they are a changin’.. But yeah, when Carlson was a wee lad La Jolla was reliably Republican. The coastal CA breed, granted (i.e. Republicans that actually worried about oil spills), but still Republican.

I mean, Romney still has his house with its car elevator there, doesn’t he?

I grew up as a SoCal lower-upper class Republican. Other than wanting low taxes, we were hard left Commies by the standards of today’s Rs. And in many ways were more Progressive than the middle range of the current Ds.

It’s difficult to really grok how much the spectrum of 1960s/1970s US politics is tilted on its axis versus the current spectrum. We still use the terms “left” and “right”, but within the multidimensional space that is actual political thought those vectors now point in radically different directions than they once did.

Drip, drip, drip: More texts come out. Another C-word violation. Bashing Trump. Fears of losing audience. Woman bashing. The usual hits:

Which still sounds like Fox trying very hard to say they disapprove of nearly 100% of their own approved editorial content of the last certainly 10 and perhaps 20 years.

If we and the MSM can’t bring ourselves to criticize Fox directly, can we at least, in the spirit of “when did you stop beating your wife?”, ask them “Why stop now, and not 15 years ago?”

And you are becoming aware of what many liberals noted since time immemorial. (ok, ok, since I was a kid in the 70s)

Most of the mainstream media was and remains a corporate one, they will normalize the craziness of one side because if there is a big advantage perceived for one side, their gravy train of political ad revenue will be reduced a lot when precedential or mid terms elections come.

Marjorie is too fat and not beautiful enough for him to want to hang with much less run with.

Did he accuse them with a lawsuit, or did he accuse them on, say, twitter?
(No, I didn’t read the story that you didn’t describe.)

Here’s a blurb from Past Tense’s link that I think explains it:

The rest of it shows leopards eating each other’s faces…which should provide entertainment for the masses…

Press on.

I’ve never watched Tucker or Fox. But he is moving his menagerie to Twitter.

Oh. Thank Og:

For the ones worried that Carlson would use his show to spread lies and conspiracy theories unchallenged, Musk said that “Community Notes” will keep him honest if he says “anything misleading.”

So … a bald-faced engagement play:

Community Notes aim to create a better informed world by empowering people on Twitter to collaboratively add context to potentially misleading Tweets. Contributors can leave notes on any Tweet and if enough contributors from different points of view rate that note as helpful, the note will be publicly shown on a Tweet.

Which means that Community Notes will be disabled shortly.

[bats eyes disingenuously] Why, whatever makes you say that?

Fox News “Carlson’s white supremacy comments, batshit lying and adversarial behavior towards management makes him a liability to this company and will cost us money. We’re cutting him loose.”

Elon Musk “That’s my kind of guy! Sign him up.”

**(Not actual quotes)

I don’t think Elon had anything to to with it. Anyone can sign up for Twitter and start a “channel”. Elon specifically said that it’s not official and Tucker isn’t being paid.

There’s no way he’s not lying. Tucker wouldn’t walk away from an offer to effectively run Newsmax with a blank check just to sign up for Twitter as a regular content creator.

Why not? He doesn’t need the money. Can’t he still have a monetized account based on ad revenue if he can manage enough subscribers? Can’t he use it to market whatever else comes next?
