"Turn out the lights ...", oh, wait, Don, turn 'em back on.

God only knows who would have kept track of this, but …

Back when “Dandy Don” Meredith was the color commentator on Monday Night Football, he had a ritual of singing[sup]1[/sup] “Turn out the lights, the party’s over” when he decided that the team that was behind no longer had a chance, usually in response to a dramatic play by the team in the lead.

How many times was he wrong? I seem to dimly remember at least one instance where he gave his rendition and the team that was trailing managed to pull it out and win.

[sup]1[/sup] - applying the term generously.
