Training sucked. They had boh chop up food and I was given an online learning.
It took me awhile to learn to use the laptop, just touch and slide down.
I attempted a quiz about 11 times, failed it each time.
It was to be 9-4 but at 11.20 all had to exit as a fire inspector was coming. She said to come back at 4 but that wasnt feasible for me, with 2 bus’s.
So I made 25, which wont get to me til oct.3.
On a better note, God keeps showing me favor; catching the bus’s and never missing them.
My neighbor may give me a pair of shoes, as the only pair I have has a hole.
I went to get my free coffee, and my fave bus driver was there and bought me a donut.
And a good early evening to all. Did a little shopping and bought one of those ‘smart’ watches that counts steps and calories and does all sorts of wonderful things (so says the brochure), and heck, it might even tell time! Then banking and a couple gym hours took care of the rest of the afternoon and planning to stay put for the rest of the day.
flyboy, interesting Tee…I really need to start replacing some of mine that are really too big for me anymore, just can’t work up the ambition to shop for them (not to mention I have about 25 tees I wear for gym/casual stuff that last me nearly a month at a time so I don’t get tired of them).
I’m rather scared to ask what you are having for dinner…
MeTV on my Satellite Cable carries the entire series M-F from 5-7pm Central. Seen so much of it that I can usually ID the episode in the first couple of minutes.
FCM, glad you are cooling down, still 89F here at 6pm. Least there are some clouds out and a little breeze.
Heck with that, I can remember working with those 5 1/2" floppies at my work station…
Coppertone, never give up.
And time to get the kraft Mac and Cheese going in my now operating microwave. Catch y’all later tonight.
Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered and put where it stays until it gets dirty again. I got my scripts and went to the Food Kitty to pick up a few things. We don’t need much in the way of provisions this week so I did that whilst out as the FK is near the pharmacy. Sup got fixed and et and OYKW did cleanup. Oh and we accomplished nappage and day drinkin’. We never shirk our RDOS duties.
MOOOOOOM I use a smallish pharmacy. I can do online refills and such, but I prefer to talk with someone. I am a medicine Luddite. However, the pharmacy texts me when a refill is due and lets me know when it’s ready.
Coppertone hope the trainin’ goes well. You mentioned line server. Is this a cafeteria? I am nosy. I see in a later post it didn’t go well it seems. Sorry about that.
JtC I gather Jolene always wins the pants fight.
Hi all - I survived my sorta-4D weekend w GF. We had a lovely time together, she had found some thoughtful gifts on her Med cruise, and we are recommitted to ensuring we each make time enough for the other. We really do seem a great fit for one another. So we’ve proven we can talk the talk; now to see about walking the walk.
I’ve been following along for the last few days with little time to provide detailed responses. Sounds like most of everyone is in a consolidating sorta headspace where projects are completing and things are being settled. Which is good. Loose ends always keep springing up, but that’s life. This time of year is well-suited to settling loose ends in prep for the impending time of hibernation.
As to the weekly theme … I’m not quite to needing heat here yet. But the bloom is definitely off our rose. Plenty warm days and almost warm enough nights are imminent. Back in St. Louis I used to rail on a bit about the times of year when heat was needed at night and AC was needed during the day. How wasteful; how about we pre-record one or the other and timeshift it to where it’s needed? I now have a similar effect here; the diurnal differences are much smaller, but my tolerance for the severe chill of low 70s overnight is not what it once was.
Best of luck to all the mumpers and their cute menageries of 2- and 4-footed loved ones.
Cheers!
MetalMouse - did you ever use the 8" floppies? When I worked in the Pentagon, our secretary used a Wang word processor that used them. Good times…
Temp has slipped below 60… brrrrrrrrrr
If I was just offering up cookies, at least one would be left on the plate. If I offer two kits to three rabid stitchers, one of them will end up dead in the scramble.
I’m sad about Robert Redford as well. I didn’t know that he had moved on to doing good things, I just remember him as being a real hottie back in the day.
Will they stop when it starts freezing or just continue to make more noise in their rush?
Sadie is beautiful as always.
Kids are tough. It’s your daughter who’s going to suffer, Roxie will be testing all her limits as soon as she starts feeling just a little better. Keeping a bored kid still isn’t as easy as it could be and Roxie doesn’t seem like she’d be happy with just screens for six weeks.
That poor woman was so frustrated and worried about her dog overheating. At one point I brought her a big towel and a hammer just in case she had to use it. Happily she was able to get her napping and deaf husband to finally react to his phone ringing and pick up out of annoyance, so he could bring the spare door key and rescue the dawg. (I kept offering to drive her to her home, but she was too worried to leave her dog locked up in the car. I understand, I’d be pretty frantic if it was one of our fuzzbutts.)
I went to Walgreens to get my shots and couldn’t do it because it hasn’t been long enough since my last covid jab. I have to wait another 13 days while hoping that access will not be pulled by the brainworm in charge of the CDC.
I can still remember being that stoopid kid who thought that being a grown-up was going to be great. Yeah, boy was I wrong. I miss the days when I would wake up to my outfit already picked out and breakfast on the table.
I have that in a needlepoint pattern. I should probably work that one next, it is very fitting for these times.
Clever!
I used to work in records management for the county. Outdated media was a real problem. We couldn’t discard it but the tech to read it was going away. I remember so many mini-cassettes being kept in felony cases, we couldn’t discard them, they were evidence, but had no way to even know if the little tapes still retained any information after twenty years.
That lil red-haired, green-eyed beauty seriously owns both of my men.
I really am happy for you. You deserve to be happy (and well laid)
I am currently in my happy spot. I’ve started a new piece (small) because I’m doing the borders on my big piece and borders are boring so I need something else to keep myself thinking.
GG is on his scratcher and Jolene is occupying the loveseat. The windows are open and the frogs and insect noises are a lovely background noise.
What’ll it cost to replace my mint plant? Relax, it won’t cost you a mint.
87° this afternoon and I actually had a riding lesson. Had to stop before the allotted time because I was simply dying. My head was so hot under the helmet. Ariel got a nice bath. I puttered until I realized I was so hot that I was going to throw up.
I’m glad!
It was only 80 here today so I went inside, and I wasn’t riding or wearing a helmet!
I’m sorry you ran into trouble. I don’t know what you were writing here ^.
Does the job itself require using a laptop, or just the test? Would you do better with an oral tet? Would it be possible to let the trainer know that? I just keep seeing you have trouble with computers.
Sorry. The back if house crew was working with food.
TJ’s pork tamales for dinner tonight. They’re spicier than the ones at the Mexican restaurant. I made a packet of McCormack enchilada sauce. It didn’t actually have directions for just the sauce; only a whole batch of enchiladas. Anyway, I prepared the sauce from those instructions. Weirdly, it called for an 8=oz. can of tomato sauce. I happened to have a 7.75 ounce can of Campbell’s tomato sauce in the cupboard. It looked more like tomato water than tomato sauce, but whatever. Lots left.
I went for a periodontal cleaning after irk… and stopped at the carniceria on the way back for a few chicharrones and a jar of Herdez guacamole salsa.
Well, shoot, my first PC had slots for those too. We actually played games that were on them. It’s just been ages since I’ve had one that had any floppy slot. Right now, I’m holding on to the one that I have simply because it’s the only thing that I have that will play CDs or DVDs, both of which I have some genealogy stuff on. Right now, I’m working on putting that stuff on thumb drives.
I played around with a new-to-me die set this afternoon and evening. It’s flowers that can be used alone or manipulated to make 3D florals. By the time I inked the cuts up (it’s a great scrap buster), used the flower tools on them and assembled them, it was a fiddly process, but came out gorgeous (so far). This could become addictive and they’ll look great on cards.
I napped. Spot trampled me. Now I’m up, having a Manhattan, and Redneck Stirfry with a Hatch chili.
< roommate walks in > “A moth followed me in, it better not go into my room!”
< sees Spot bouncing up and down and flailing in the air in the entryway > “Nope.”

In an emergency, I’d likely be too hari-ed to kari about that.
< bows in homage >

So I made 25, which wont get to me til oct.3.
What about the rest of the week’s training?

I’m rather scared to ask what you are having for dinner…
There’s a typo in my cookbook, so I made French Onion Soap for lunch.

Hi all - I survived my sorta-4D weekend w GF.
Do you need bandages, slings, and makeup to cover the bruises and hickies?

MetalMouse - did you ever use the 8" floppies? When I worked in the Pentagon, our secretary used a Wang word processor that used them. Good times…
That even before my time. But I think the missile crews still use them.
Evening all. True to my word I have accomplished little outside of eating dinner and internettin’ this evening, may head off to bed soon as I’m more tired than I expected, so rest is prescribed. Temperature is down to 74F heading to 65F so off with the AC and on to open windows.
Pilot, glad to hear things are still going well on the romance front.

MetalMouse - did you ever use the 8" floppies? When I worked in the Pentagon, our secretary used a Wang word processor that used them. Good times…
Never did personally, but like you our secretaries used them.
JtC, glad the locked in doggie story had a happy ending,
Wet one, yay! for the riding lesson, boo! on the heat exhaustion…was like that a couple years ago while refereeing soccer, one of the reasons I started dieting and going to the gym. Take care and hydrate.
And off to do some reading and puzzling and then the regular journey to Slumberland. Catch y’all tomorrow.
I train tomorrow, thurs, and fri.
Ms Peach went to the vet today, got her nails done, and we picked up flea/tick meds and heartworm stuff. She’s up about 10 lbs since I adopted her. 44pound hound now. Then went to the museum so my co-workers could give her some tummy scritches.

tomorrow, thurs, and fri.
Hopefully things will work out better.

Ms Peach
… got a spa treatment and lotsa attention .. what a great day for her!
Work was slow, and boring as hell … until we were about to close.
First, we’re having problems with condensation dripping from the ceiling. I got mad at the constant drips on my head, looked up to, yes, yell at the ceiling, and saw one of the light bulbs was filling with water!!
Pic below shortly after I sounded the alarm. Within an hour it was full to the brim and S.M. was waking her boss out of a sound sleep to help figure out how to deal with it.
Second, we don’t have hot water … which we only discovered after our lovely dishwasher came in.
I’m off tomorrow, but I bet I’ll hear alllllllll about it.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Then went to the museum so my co-workers could give her some tummy scritches.
A pedi-pedi, scritches, and drugs? Sounds like a good day for Ms. Peach.

I’m off tomorrow, but I bet I’ll hear alllllllll about it.
Why is it yellow?!?
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 14c/57f with a predicted high of 19c/65f and a chance of rain. Weather app says “Mother Nature is pissing all over your fucking parade.” True, it rained most of the night, I heard it as I had the windows open in the bedroom.

My husband is a big homebody, so I don’t foresee him wanting to go anywhere.
My retirement plan is to be a homebody - I’ve spent so much of my time going out to work somewhere else, I deserve to spend more time in the house. Having said that, I have a day off today and I’m planning to go out!

they’re in the process of reorganizing the entire store
I hate it when they do that, I write my shopping list in the order I walk round the store (so I can ignore aisles with stuff in that I never buy, like cake and biscuits). I went to Morrisons on Monday and they were doing the same thing so it took me a lot longer to find what I wanted.

I went for a periodontal cleaning after irk… and stopped at the carniceria on the way back for a few chicharrones and a jar of Herdez guacamole salsa.
Sounds like a good way to reward yourself for having to go through the trauma!

Then went to the museum so my co-workers could give her some tummy scritches.
Peach is set to become everyone’s therapy dog now?

Pic below shortly after I sounded the alarm.
I worked in a building that was notorious for having leaks from the roof. It is a listed building which means it has some architectural or design significance, and also means there’s an official process to go through before you can do any work on them. We had water coming through light fittings, dripping onto computers, and also coming down the walls inside the building - guess where all the power sockets are….yup, on the floor under the windows!
Yesterday was not exciting at all, we had to attend a useless start-of-year meeting organised by the head of college operations, told us nothing of any use. Worked for the afternoon but it was one of those days when I feel like I achieved very little. Went home and did the usual cat chores before dinner.
Today I am off work so that’s a bonus. I was up reasonably early, fed the cats and changed litter trays, then came here to see what you lot have been doing. My plan for today is the gym, errands in town and picking up lunch from my favourite Indian food truck, then making sure I’m home in time for a union meeting to vote on strike action.
In better news, Muffin had a proper solid poo so we are very happy with that, as she’s not done anything for a couple of days. In even better news, I gave her some different food today which was unacceptable so she felt the need to come over and tell me about it, which allowed me to stroke her. There’s a few seconds of video on FB if you’re friends with me on there!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 87 and sunny. I foresee some quality cee-mint pond time later this mornin’. We shall sup over to the church house as it’s Wednesday night doin’s time. We will go early for setup time and do cleanup after folks eat. Adults are asked to volunteer for setup and cleanup duties each week. I think a once a month volunteer is good. Four of us volunteered and that should be enough as setup and cleanup are relatively easy. We will also attend to our RDOS needs as well.
Pilot glad you had a good reunion. Good that gf and you are talkin’ and plannin’ about the future of the relationship. Small steps and all that.
Coppertone hope trainin’ goes better today.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
