I ran out this past weekend and picked up the Turtle Beach Ear Force X4 Surround Sound head phones to use with my Xbox360. I’ve been sitting on the fence trying to decide to buy these or not, but I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger. And MAN am I glad I did.

I wanted something that I could turn up while I played, without waking the wife and kids. These really fit the bill. The sound quality is great, and hooking it up was a breeze. They are a bit pricey, but a hekuva lot less expensive than buying a surround sound system. I highly recommend 'em.

Are those the wireless ones? I’ve got the 5.1 surround sound Tritton headphones and they’re amazing. It really does make you play better because you’re able to pick up, hear, and identify sounds you normally wouldn’t without the walls shaking.

The X4s are indeed the wireless 5.1 headphones. I have the X3s, which are also wireless, but only do stereo, not 5.1. So far I don’t think it’s a handicap, but I’d still like to upgrade sometime.

Shark, do you get a hiss in the X4s when it’s too quiet? That’s the only thing I don’t like about the X3s.

Audiophiles scoff at the lack of sound quality that wireless delivers. I don’t get it, but to each their own.

Yeah, well, audiophiles can also be suckered into paying $159 for a bag of rocks, so I’ll go with the convenience of wireless, thanks. hehe.

Oh, I completely agree. I don’t get the audio stuff, but I figured I’d throw it out there.

I ended up getting a pair from a cousin when my old 5.1 surround headphones died on me.

The ones I have actually have separate speakers for the front and rear channels as well as the bass. So three speakers in each cup.
