TV Problem--big black box and eds button

I have 10 year old toshiba wide screen tv. It has suddenly developed a big black box in the picture. It actually covers most of the area. The only way to make it go away is to press the EDS button. The box goes away and it says EDS (whatever that is) on. If I change channels or press any other button the black box comes back until I press the eds button.

This is an empty caption box. Look at your Closed Caption settings, and make sure it’s set to C1 or Off.

Thanks, that took care of it. I must have changed the cc setting without realizing it. I don’t know that I ever would have figured that out on my own.
