TV Shows List Of Re-Newed, Not-Yet, Canceled

Happy Endings lives. Wayans lives under a charmed star.

Brothers & Sisters and V are history.

It is, D’Onofrio and Erbe were on the Today Show this morning, talking about how it was a conditional one season, eight episode pick up just to bring them back and wrap their storyline after their abrupt departure.

It was renewed today. As was “Body of Proof” the relatively new show with Dana Delany as a medical examiner. Standard “rogue ME investigates crime” tropes, but nicely done. Good to see it’ll be back.

Detroit 187, No Ordinary Family, Off the Map and Better With You got the ax from ABC, in addition to V and Brothers & Sisters.

NBC has dropped the loathsome Outsourced, the plodding The Event and the twice retooled Law & Order: Los Angeles. Chuck was renewed but for one last season, only, they’ve pulled it from the brink twice and won’t do it a third time. On the upside, this will give Zachary Levi and Adam Baldwin time to go campaigning for their buddy Newt Gingrich next year.

CBS is going to renew The Good Wife, NCIS: LA and both Criminal Minds, why they’re waiting for the announcement is anybody’s guess.

I’m trying to figure out what’s going on at the CW that “Nikita” is still on the bubble. They’re not paying for “Smallville” any more, and it’s as competitive in the overall ratings as anything they’ve got on air. One Tree Hill being on the bubble is understandable because its ratings have been sliding over two seasons, but Nikita stayed steady even after being pulled from the schedule for weeks at a time twice. Weirdo little fifth place network needs to learn how to stay in its niche.

Oh man! Dammit, OTM was my favorite new show from the 2010-2011 season. I can’t believe more people watched Private Practice with its increasingly dull storylines than this one. :frowning:

As for V, the now series finale was great. Too bad it too so long for an episode like that. I know, they could make a mini-series to wrap things up…

The cancellation of Law & Order: Los Angeles isn’t exactly the biggest shocker, but I thought the retooling was quite an improvement, particularly dumping the whole alternating-prosecutors thing. I believe that if the show had come right out of the gate in its current format, free of the stench of retooling, it would have at least lived for another season. The cancellation does resolve one question I had: Since episodes were named for locations, what were they going to do when the episode count started to get high?

Where’s Psych in all this? I needs me some Lassiter!

I liked Outsourced. It sort of grows on you, and its ratings were good until it moved to 10:30. I also feel kind of bad about Chuck.

I am so out of the TV loop. I am amazed at how many of these shows I’ve never heard of (much less watched).

Keep the Modern Family, Raising Hope, and Big Bang Theory trains a-rollin’ and I’m good.
mmm

V has officially been canceled.

USA Network’s seasons run so differently they don’t factor into the fall renewal scheme.

That said, all the USA favorites have been renewed, Psych, Burn Notice, Royal Pains and White Collar, and all will be back at some point this summer. In Plain Sight is back on now and has its next season’s order in already. The only thing that hasn’t received official renewal word yet, last I checked, was “Fairly Legal” which had so-so ratings. It may end up being replaced in the cycle by “Necessary Roughness” which will start in a few weeks.

Covert Affairs will also be back this summer.

I can see that I’m not much of a Major Network watcher:

Categories: A - Like, and enjoy, but not on any ‘every episode’ level.
B - Have watched a few episodes - okay, but not a big deal.
C - Have never seen or seen and rejected.

Here’s the results:

Renewed - A 3/32, B 2/32, C 27/32
Looking Good - A 3/20, B 1/20, C 16/20
Not so Good - A 1/17, B&C 16/17
Cancelled/Ending - C 14/14

I’m happy about Raising Hope, and bummed about Traffic Light and Chicago Code. I thought CC had real potential.

Feels so good, because other than Mr Sunshine, I didn’t watch more than 1 episode of anything that got cancelled. And now I don’t have to … Happy Endings, Raising Hope and possibly Hellcats (I hear it’s the best guilty pleasure show ever?) will be getting season 1 marathons from me soon.

How in the hell Parks & Recreation keeps getting renewed is beyond me. It must keep slipping in with Community, The Office and 30 Rock.

How in the hell is CSI: NY the one on the bubble? That’s the one CSI I actually watch once in a while (mainly to see how accurately they’re portraying NYC these days)…does anyone actually take the Miami one seriously, or do people just watch to laugh at Caruso? I’m still waiting for the Boise version they were talking about a couple years ago; it’d be interesting to see how things are done in a smaller, quieter city.

Parks & Recreation is the second best sitcom on the air right now, only behind Community. It’s as great as 30 Rock used to be.

Off the whole list, I just realized I only care about two of the shows: Community and HIMYM. I wouldn’t mind everything else being axed, and that includes Supernatural, who are nowadays just rehashing old plots.

Say what? Parks and Rec never struck me as particularly good. Are you sure you haven’t just been tricked by the mockumentary format? I’ve noticed that mockumentaries tend to be really overrated.

Parks & Recs ratings aren’t very good but man am I ever glad it keeps getting renewed, as it’s one of the best shows on TV.

Edit:

No, Parks and Recreation is really, truly amazing. It starts off slow, hits its stride during the second season, and only gets better from there.

I didn’t like Parks and Recreation that much the first couple of times I saw it, but I’ve been watching it faithfully this season and it is hilarious. I agree with Hades–it is much better than 30 Rock, and second only to Community out of the comedies I watch.

Fairly Legal was kind of hit or miss for me. Some dumb stories with good acting, some good stories with hammy acting. That girl sure has a nice butt. If it comes back or not, oh well. But Psych, Burn Notice, and Royal Pains are ‘must record’ each week. I loves finding me some pineapple before my wife does.

I have never liked The Office, which is the only other mockumentary I am aware of. Parks & Rec is fantastic and top notch.
