It would require new writers. The writers that they had mostly came from a democrat perspective (especially Sorkin).

I’m a bit torn by this - I liked the show but the whole “all major events and famous people of the past 50 years are linked to an alien invasion” thing was already getting threadbare by the end of the first season. If it got revived, the main plot arc would have to move a lot faster than it did.

A reboot/remake would just as likely do something stupid like involve time travel or aliens, or time traveling aliens, or move the Village inside a star, and call it Wayward Pines, or Persons Unknown, and it would still be incomprehensible, and bad.
