For lesser offenses, it would be likely that they would simply be asked to step down as a moderator long before they were candidates for banning.

It would appear that it’s possible that actions that wouldn’t be cause for a ban, would be cause for removal from modding. I’m not sure if you would classify that as “a higher standard,” but it kind of seems so.
