Twickster, too stupid for MPSIMS?

Well it was pretty dumb but not too far from the infamous Who gives a shit? thread and certainly a lot smarter than the classy and tasteful Rosey fingered Dawn.

Huh. I enjoyed both of those.

Well since you started the thread, I’ll assume by both of those you mean Dawn and Rosey.

Twix, could you give an answer to this please?

It was a fun thread and posters were having a good time. That’s why we come here. No one complained in that thread that it was too stupid. Why do you feel you must close such threads just because you can?

I can’t see in the agreement where someone has to complain for a thread to be closed.

Gah- why do Mods have to explain every action.

Oh brother. Can you quote the part of my post where I referenced the agreement? Or where I stated that every mod action must be explained… or even this mod action must be explained?

In this very thread Twix, herself said, “No prob with your exploring the question in the correct forum, though.” This is the correct forum and I asked politely - not demanded. Further, I have started more mod appreciation threads than mod complaining threads. I understand that there is a disclaimer in the Post Padding section referenced by Marley. But in this case it looks like folks were doing the thing they come here to do - post and have fun.

Yes there have been truly pointless post padding threads (the A thread springs to mind) but this one doesn’t seem to fit that bill. I was simply asking for her reasoning regarding this one.

I’ve already explained:

Well that’s it then.

Actually, that statement was in response to dropzone opening a thread on the topic in Cafe Society.

I still don’t why this inane but funny thread was closed, yet this one entitled Rosey fingered Dawn
and when you open it the entire opener is

.. remained open.

They are both funny, and if someone doesn’t think so.. gee, I don’t know, is the correct answer use the mouse-over and just don’t click on it, then? But what we don’t need are security volunteers paddlocking our stuff. Even if it is stupid. After all, that stupid stuff is an extension of the artistic side of our idiocy, who we are, a testimony to the fact that even though morons, we are at least attempting our own brand of creativity. Plus it’s harmless and some people like it.

What is unarguable is that mods should enforce the rules. When it becomes contentious is when mods decide to control the tone of the Dope - which is what is happening in this case. I know that **Marley23 **supports twickster’s stance, but I’m not aware of other mods behaving in the same way. So, it is entirely twickster’s personal take on the rules that she is enforcing - which is her right. Which is why there is this thread, because not everyone agrees with her.

No, there’s usually at least one MPSIMS mod who seems to be offended that people could be having fun with relatively contentless threads and have to lock them, even when the thread is providing amusement to a lot of people. Apparently even the pointless forum is for srs bznss only.

Glad to see one of my threads mentioned.
Why should we not be able to joke around?
The smart people here seem to have a sense of humor too.
Who knew

I am considering starting a thread called, “I am the humblest and most most universally beloved and respected poster on the SDMB”. Only modesty has precluded me from starting it yet, but I have recently been undergoing some modesty removal treatment, and I’m now good to go.

Should this be a Great Debate (not that I see any question about it), an MPSIMS, or is some moderator going to decide it is too stupid to live?

MPSIMS is fine. If a move to GD – or the Pit – turns out to be necessary, I’ll be happy to take care of that for you.

It should start out in the pit. You just know it’s going to devolve into a dick… err… modesty measuring contest.

Nothing to say, except that I approve of locking threads like those. Now if only the mods locked the annual “nothing but quotes from A Christmas Story” thread…
