Twilight Zone-a-thon!

Is anyone else watching? I just love when Sci Fi (no “y” for me, sorry!) does these marathons.

I hope they show all the “obvious” favorites but I’d also like to see one of my faves, Spur of the Moment, which a lot of people don’t like, but I love. What are you guys hoping to see?

I am actually doing a LOTR thon, for some damned reason cable was only playing movie 1 for what seems like forever, I have seen it like 10 times in the last 6 months but TNT is showing movies 2 and 3 today so that is what we are watching =)

It’s so freakin’ hot where I live that I don’t want to go outside. Love the *TZ *marathon! Right now I’m bouncing back between the Tour de France, golf, and the *TZ *marathon.

I’m watching. It’s practically a tradition in my house, especially the New Year marathon.
I actually just had my own TZ marathon in my classroom for the last day of school. I was surprised that so many of the kiddoes had never seen them before (I teach middle school, but I thought that it was impossible to escape these marathons on various channels throughout the year, no matter what your age).

The class faves were Living Doll (Talking Tina), and the creature on the plane wing with Shatner (Nightmare at 20,000 feet).

I still remember being impressed by Time enough At Last (the man who loved to read) as a child who always had her nose in a book, although I love so many of them I can’t choose a single favorite.

I am not watching at the moment but I love the Zone. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be “Number 12 Looks Just Like You” or “Midnight Sun”.

Poor Burgess Meredith. Could that guy ever catch a break in a TZ ep?

Weirdly I had my first exposure to TZ in school too! Eye of the Beholder in my fifth grade library class.

I always try to catch these marathons because I hope to catch a Zone that I haven’t seen before. Today, it happened! Not only did I catch one I’d never seen, but it starred the kid from my all time favorite Zone of all time.

I had never seen the Grandma on the toy phone ep, but I loved it. That kid was the same kid from It’s A Good Life.

Boy, TZ makes me miss my dad, who used to watch with me all the time untill he crossed over to the big Twilight Zone when I was 15. R.I.P. dad.

What was that one episode titled, “The Big Pitch”, or something similar. where Ed Wynn saved the little girl from Death?

That was One for the Angels.

Thank you! It was my favorite.

I wish I’d taken the opportunity to record more Twilight Zone and Doctor Who when they were being repeated frequently on cable in the UK.

I could do with a repeat of the TWZ, I’m ok for a while now for Doctor Who.

Sorry about your Dad. It was also for me one of the shows my Dad and I would watch together. I always found that episode extra eerie because it was shot on Video. There is a handful of them that were filmed that way and they seem off when you watch them.

You mean the telephone grandma ep? Because, I noticed it looked almost like a damn Three’s Company episode or something some moments. Sit commy or something.

Thanks about my dad. 22 years later, I’m still a big ol’ daddy’s girl.

used to watch it when it was on. now it is something I really miss from not having cable

Hey, Spur of the Moment is one of my favorites too! I liked that last scene with a young Diana Hyland chasing herself on horseback to no avail. This TZ-athon is no longer as gripping for me anymore since I got all the episodes on DVD and can watch any of them any time I want. But they’re still great. I particularly like watching some of my favorite actors as they were 50 years ago. That’s why I like A Hundred Yards Over the Rim which starred a young Cliff Robertson, or the great Andy Devine in Hocus-Pocus and Frisby. Those stories were only so-so, but the performances were memorable.

I’m watching The Howling Man right now. The guy staring in this, H. M. Wynant, looks like he’s African American. I can’t imagine that he is, since it would be unheard of to cast a Black man in this sort of role in 1960. His bio on wikipedia doesn’t give any info about his background. Anyone else get the sense that he’s African American?

No, I don’t get the impression he’s African American. Maybe the black and white film has changed or something, but he looks “white” to me.

Interesting! He instantly looked, sounded and had the mannerisms of someone I would identify as ‘black’ to me.

Well, he looks more White than Black, but he looks “Harry Belafonte” Black to me.

That was one of the episodes (six in total I think) that was video taped instead of filmed.

Dammit! I missed the Howling Man.

Mannerisms? What about his mannerisms seemed “black”? I remember the ep but I’m not sure I know what you’re referring to…
