I can’t believe it, but Twin Peaks comes back tomorrow.
I haven’t seen more than a second of new footage and haven’t the slightest idea what they are going to have in store for us, but I can not wait and want a place setup for us to talk.

Have any damn fine coffee?
Apparently at the premiere last night, Showtime people were commenting that no one at Showtime has seen even a single frame from any of the episodes. They are airing it(aside from the premiere last night) totally blind. Lynch and Frost had total control and no one but those behind the scenes has seen anything.
I am so looking forward to this.
Anyone know if they’re releasing them one week at a time, or what?
From what I’ve heard, Showtime is releasing one episode a week. But I couldn’t find a clear statement on their site.
I’ve also heard that the show takes full advantage of Showtime’s lack of censorship. I adore Madchen Amick beyond words, but given the ages of the cast members, a little censorship might not be a bad thing…
I’m pretty sure that there are new younger cast members in addition to the originals.
But to be honest, I’m not tuning in for pornography. I’m no prude but that’s available in massive amounts any time I want it.
I’m also not looking for overly explicit violence.
There was plenty of sexuality and violence in the original - that was the underlying theme after all - but it was at just the right levels. That may have been due to FCC rules and network censorship, but it worked for me.
I’m looking for something that captures the atmosphere of the original. I am NOT looking for “Twin Peaks Unchained”.
“Diane- remind me to get Showtime added to my Dish contract. No! Scratch that.”
We actually added Showtime to our cable just because of the upcoming show. Have re-watched the whole series. I can’t wait!
I already pay far too much for cable. I’ll have to wait until it hits Starz or something I have.
No kidding, man! I pay out the ass for about 900 channels, and only watch about 4 of them. I couldn’t in good conscience pay extra for any more.
Too bad I couldn’t trade about a dozen I don’t watch for one I would.
My log predicts…
Raccoons will smile at the baby.
The Black Lodge is the White Lodge is the Grey Lodge is the Chartreuse Lodge.
Norma is a lesbian serial killer, serving time for the murder of Donna Hayward.
Benjamin Horne will make eyes at the pretty mouthful of wildebeests.
Nadine has perfected the drape runners.
The owls are just owls, nothing more.
Bob spelled backwards is Zanzibar.
Two episodes this week, then one per week. All of them are called “The Return, Part #”
I am currently watching the original On Demand. Anyone else doing that?
Both tonight, or is the second one later this week?
I did recently, on Netflix. Plus I have the complete DVD set, so I’ve seen it a number of times over the years.
I’ve subscribed to Showtime through Amazon Prime. I hope that means I’ll be able to see the episodes as they air, but I’m not sure.
I’m very interested to see who will play Annie Blackburn with Heather Graham gone. Laura Dern and Naomi Watts are both possibilities. Hmm…
Both tonight.
Wow. A lot of big names are appearing as one-offs: Richard Chamberlain, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Madeline Zima, Laura Dern, Naomi Watts, Harry Dean Stanton, Tim Roth…it’s pretty impressive. Plus, almost everyone from the original cast is coming back. Not everyone is going to be a regular, but Peggy Lipton, Sherilyn Fenn, Wendy Robie, and several others are making one-time appearances.
I don’t think I’ve been as excited by a TV show since the original Twin Peaks aired. I was already a committed Lynchian back then, ever since Eraserhead in fact, and if anyone can capture lightning in a bottle twice it’s Lynch. 18 episodes, all directed by the master! My one disappointment with the original series was that Lynch directed so few of the episodes. This one though is pure David Lynch!
I wonder how those too young to have been around for the original are feeling about this. I hope they don’t think it’s just the older folks blathering on about how good TV was when they were young. I can assure them, that ain’t it. This show is special.
I’m just stunned I’m about to witness the next season of TP…even recall mentioning it few yrs ago here when we talked about actors/actresses we thought were going to make it big time, and didn’t: The cast of Twin Peaks, proving how hard it is to become big in Hollywood. Just reading Madchen’s recent interviews and how some yrs when she barely found work and called and cried to David Lynch who assured her not to give up. Glad to hear she’s been working and got to return to TP while working on Riverdale too.
Was so big a fan that I subscribed to Wrapped in Plastic the fanzine before we had Internet. I was dismayed to hear one of the head editors didn’t even live to see this series as he died of a heart attack few years ago
