I stopped watching after season 9, but I watched it tonight because I wanted to see Charlie’s daughter. I’m not proud of it, but I liked it enough to watch the next couple of episodes. :o Especially since Holland Taylor’s supposed to be in more episodes this year.
That did not look anything like Amber Tamblyn, but I really only know her from House. It looks like their just turning her into Charlie 2.0. I suppose that could go either way. I thought it’s been good all along, but if you missed Charlie maybe you’ll like this. Of course, it’ll be really obvious that’s what they’re doing if they find a way to get rid of Walden. They did mention that Charlie had been sending checks*, big checks to her every month so it wouldn’t surprise me if she had enough money saved up to buy the house or buy a new house for her and Alan (and Berta).
I hope they don’t go that way, I like Walden.
*$5000 a month for 18 years would be a million, $10,000 would be $2 million. Have Evelyn kick the bucket since she just mentioned an inheritance for Jenny and we could probably double it. He could have been paying for her past her being 18 so there could be more, but if they wanted to stick with the real story we also have to keep in mind that towards the end, IIRC, Charlie was broke and had multiple mortgages on the house.
I don’t think I have read anything about them wanting to get rid of Ashton (Walden), but then again, at his current huge salary, it wouldn’t surprise me.
Adding a daughter of Charlie is not the worst idea - give the show some new life.
I thought Two And A Half Men was going to crash and burn after Charlie Sheen left the show, but it still has a good kick to it and lots of laughs - proof of what consistent writing and a good cast can do for a show.
My husband and I both thought the episode was stupid and we fully expect the show to crash and burn this season. Frankly, I’m surprised it’s lasted this long, especially without Kandi.
The whole Alan-is-a-cheapskate bit is way beyond worn out. As for Charlie’s daughter, maybe this is a stretch, but are they suggesting that since she’s a lesbian, that she’s now the half man?? hahaha  Goodness knows, Jake has been a waste as a character.
Are you saying that Jake has been a waste of a character recently or the whole time? I always think it’s funny when people write off Jake. Keep in mind, he was the highest paid child actor raking in over a quarter of a million dollars per episode.
You might not like him, but he was doing something right. He could live modestly and never have to work again for the rest of his life on what he made.
I never liked Jake as a character. He was obnoxious, rude, crude, and I hated that he never got yanked into line by his father. Everyone seemed to cater to him. I think Berta was the only one who actually punished him, making him clean his own bathroom.
Yeah, I know, it’s TV, not real life, but I didn’t think there was anything likable or even socially redeemable about Jake. No opinion about the actor playing the part - I just thought it was a badly developed character.
OK, I watched the episode from beginning to end, and I never saw the opening song. Did it feature Jake as the “and-a-half” like it always has in the past?
Now that I think about it, you’re right, I don’t recall them playing it either.
There was a short version of the theme song with just a title card reading “Two and a Half Men”… no shot of anybody lip-synching.
I liked him until he hit puberty, and for a little while after that.
I thought it odd that Alan and Judith didn’t try harder with him. The kid had potential. There was that episode where he made Evelyn a sandwich, and he wanted to be a chef. Another episode had Rose helping him with his homework, and when learning was made interesting, he did okay.
It would have been a nice counterpoint to the flaws in Alan and Charlie’s characters, to have Jake achieve something.
I think the joke of the series is that it’s never really established which of the characters is the “half” man. All of them have issues that make them incomplete as a person.
According to rumors, it’s the opposite. Jenny will turn out to be a bisexual and will end up in a relationship with Walden.
