Saw this on VOD. Absolutely awesome. The cinematography was fantastic, the shots of Greece and Turkey especially. But, the ultimate thing is that it does not feel like a period flick (set in 1962), it feels as if it was actually shot in 1962. The style. The dialogue and the general feel.
Oscar Isaacs was excellent. Even Kirsten Dunst did ok (helps that she looks like a 60’s beauty anyway and does well in oppressed woman roles)
Viggo Mortensen, a very dark and complex role, that of a con man, who genuinely has feelings for his fellow men and yet is still able to sell them short. The look of regret when he betrays Isaac’s character was brilliant and genuine.
Hope this gets some love in awards season.
