I hope I never have to see this kind of thing again.
Today, here in Topeka, Kansas there were the funerals for two police officers shot to death last week, in the line of duty.
The funerals were held in the Expocentre, a big municipal auditorium. It was the only place large enough to hold all the mourners. for officers from all over the state, and surrounding states, came to pay their repects.
People lined the route the procession would take. The first funeral was at 10:00AM but the memorial and the procession lasted so long there wouldn’t be time for the turnaround for the next one at 2:00PM, so it was delayed until 3:30PM. I stood out at both processions. At the first I counted 424 vehicles, without including the motorcycles. By the time the second was passing, it was getting pretty dark and that let the flashing lights stand out all the more.
At least I didn’t hear of the Phelps causing difficulties. Since the rock they live under is here in Topeka, I was afraid they’d cause a commotion. If the were anywhere at all I didn’t hear about it.
