Two months salary- What kind of engagement ring will your man's job let him buy you?

Bloody hell. Two months salary for an engagement ring! I could buy a pretty decent new small car for that amount.

Are you supposed to spend a year’s salary for the actual wedding ring?

My thoughts, too. Whatever my own thoughts are on engagement rings, blood diamonds and lavish weddings, there are two people in an engagement and a marriage. If two fiancé(e)s don’t have similar points of view when it comes to tradition, material goods and budgeting, they should probably re-rexamine their relationship. If a woman wants a piece like that, she’d better find a guy who wants to express his love in that form. If a guy thinks he’s being suckered into saving up for a rock, he should find a lady who couldn’t care less.

very nice != very expensive.

And yes, it is judgement. Judgement against women who buy into the diamond company myth that engagement rings have to be gigantic expensive ostentatious shows of wealth.

And this is me judging such women.

Judge judge judge.

ah, feels great.

And, in ten years you’d have a POS junker - and in fifty years one of your grandchildren would have an heirloom and be able to propose to his fiancee with his grandmother’s ring.

(I’m not a fan of expensive rings - don’t value them myself, tend to loose jewelry so I don’t wear expensive jewelry - not a flashy jewelry sort of person - but I really fail to see why two months is unreasonable for something you will wear every day for the rest of your life and pass down to your children - if it is important to you.)

Not that I push Tiffany, but this one is simple and beautiful, as are many engagement rings.

Nah, a simple metal band is a lot cheaper.

Above, engagement ring is $8700 and the platinum band is only $525. (A diamond band is a lot more.)
