Two new episodes of The Apprentice 4-10-06

Thank you!

I’ve been pondering over the scores a bit more, and what strikes me most right now is 1) how high Charmaine’s score is and 2) The way she got many of her good points.

Remember, this is the woman that Trump twice make PMs explain why they hadn’t nominated her for firing. (The screwup over the models & comedian and her being in charge of the graphics.) And yet he is going out of his way to praise her over the past few episodes. Saying she was exactly right on the points she brought up, praising her as a presenter, indulging her by letting her speak after he’d dismissed the non-candidates.

I don’t know what is going on – Is it just that Trump likes her looks/manners? Let’s face it, with exceptions, he mostly uses his ‘Apprentices’ in PR, sort of standins for himself at events not important enough to go to himself. Clearly he wants his standins to be good-looking, well-dressed, nicely mannered, articulate, and so forth.

Or has Charmaine done extra well during some of the tasks in footage we didn’t see? She bears watching.
Also, I screwed up calculating Leslies pts/epside – I used the current episode instead of cumulative. She actually went out with an amazlingly low -0.25 per episode.

I’m not changing what I said about the PM being the only reasonable person to fire on that task but I think Leslie had another BIG demerit in Trumps eyes. She waited until everyone else had had a turn a PM. From a comment by someone (Lee?) it wasn’t that she’d tried to be PM previously and lost out to another volunteer, she had simply sat back under the radar until she HAD to take on the task or make it ridiculously obvious she was afraid to take the lead. And real leaders WANT to take the lead. Look at Andrea. “If I had my way I’d be PM all the time.” Yep, egoistic, but that is the mindset of leaders. They are SURE they know best, so obviously things should be done their way, and thus they need to be in charge. Andrea could use a heaping cup full of charm and graciousness to soften her worst edges, but she is definitely a leader type while Leslie wasn’t.

I always picture Trump keeping a list, maybe just mental, on which he crosses candidates off when they do – or don’t do – something that makes it rock clear to him that they can’t handle the job. The crossed-off candidate may hang around for a lot longer, especially if they’re on the team that is currently winning. But they’re effectively gone.

There had been past firings when it had seemed to me that Trump fired the ‘wrong’ person, that is, not the one that I thought most guilty of the current failure. I bet if I had been doing a similar scoring process on those episodes what I would have seen is Trump choosing to fire one of his Zombies in order to let a player who was ‘guilty’ this time BUT had shown promise on earlier tasks have a second chance to recover.
