Two Opera Questions

  1. Recently, we discussed the name of the Opera song that played during the closing of the World Series. It was called Con Te Partiro, or Time to Say Goodbye. What Opera is it from and who is the composer?

  2. There is a commercial currently airng for Merlot wine. It has a wonderful Opera song in the background(actually, it’s the main aspect of the commercial). It sounds like Placido Domingo or Jose Carreras, but I can’t be sure. Anyone know what Opera this is from and the name of the song?

Thanks.

“Con Te Partiro” (Time to Say Goodbye) isn’t from an opera. It’s a modern tune written in the style of a traditional Italian opera aria. Andrea Bocelli seems to have the most popular rendition out, judging by Web links, but his duet with Sarah Brightman also looks popular.

Can’t help you on the wine commercial, though.

  1. I don’t think it’s from an opera. It’s sung by Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli. The composer is Quarantotto.

  2. No clue.
