Two people I'm worried about

  1. My dad, who’s a CBC journalist, is being sent to Islamabad, Pakistan to cover the terrorist attacks’ fallout there. Now I know I often say unpleasant things about him, which are true, but he’s still my dad and I’m frightened for him. He’s very calm, but still, I don’t think he’s being too frank about how dangerous it is. Americans - would you be so kind as not to send troops near his general position? Thank you.

  2. There’s a cute boy named Miguel, of whom I’ve recently become quite fond. He’s a refugee claimant from Venezuela. Since Canada does not consider Venezuela a dangerous country (apparently they didn’t interview too many gay people or political dissidents to make this determination), his refugee process may take up to four years. Moreover, with the attacks and the corresponding new restrictions on immigration, it may become even more difficult for him to immigrate. He’s fearful for his life if he should be forced to return to Venezuela, and I don’t want to lose him. He already has so much red tape to deal with, and I hope things don’t become any more difficult for him than they already are.

So please send prayers, karma, good wishes, etc… in these directions. Thanks.

Goodness. Sending good vibes for your dad and Miguel.

Don’t have too many good vibes at the moment, but what I have are Miguel’s and your Father’s.

Scary times. I’ll be saying my prayers for your Dad and your friend.

Positive karma coming your way from Athens, GA.

Best wishes to all of you. I’ll keep my fingers, toes, and anything else appropriate crossed.

Thanks, folks. I appreciate it.

Aw, hell, kid! They’ll be fine! Dad’s off doing cool stuff that he loves to do (and I’m jealous!). Miguel has the British Commonwealth’s ancient tradition of red tape to protect him–as long as he’s being processed he’s not getting deported and eventually he’ll fall through the cracks and everything will be hunky-dory. Chin up.

May there be happy ending to both stories.

There, the Christian girl just sent up a good, loud prayer!
Hang in there!

I’ll say dad and Miguel during the prayers for “friends and family” tomorrow morning at church.

You got it love.

Wishing all of you the very best.

Sheesh, that sounded like a Hallmark card. And a cheesy one at that.

Well, you know what I mean. You asked for positive thoughts and I’m sending them. Chin up (or as the Victorians used to say, keep your pecker up).
