Two prisoners escape using tactis similar to Escape from Alcatraz. I predict a movie very soon.

He didn’t have to kick them out. Just announce that Sandra Lee would be catering.

You mean after she’s healed from the double mastectomy she just had?

Richard Matt is a pretty good amateur artist. His Obama sketch is very good. I guess he did the Hillary Clinton sketch soon after starting this hobby. Its not lifelike at all. He made Oprah much skinner than I’ve ever seen her.

The cops need to watch street buskers. This guy could make $10 a pop sketching tourists. Busking might be a way to survive on the run.

Duly chastised. No more Sandra Lee put-downs. Lance Armstrong ones are still OK, but only in incomplete sentences

Sorry. That was bitchier than it needed to be. I can’t stand her cooking either, but feel badly for her right now…

You can say what you want about Armstrong since his drug use came out in the open. So go nuts.

Or go nut.

Good one!

I had seen unconfirmed reports about this. Its been confirmed now by the prosecutor. I hope they charge her for conspiracy to commit murder. This case is getting more twisted and darker.

Used to be that society liked wives who had an axe to grind with their husbands. Movies have been made about the wife would would slip something into her husband’s tea. Winston Churchill said he’d drink that tea on one occasion. I wonder what his deal was.

If we go to hard on this woman, what’s next? Since the escapees are like heroes, it would be unfair to call this woman not a hero. Sounds sexist to me. Sexism is bad, so let’s just lay off her.

News Stories evolve over time. I suspect even more information will come out about the prison break. I don’t think all the coconspirators have been identified. Have to wait and see. The complexity and planning are things that makes this an intriguing news story. It’s going to take awhile for authorities to piece together everything that happened and prosecute whoever is involved.

Hard to believe they’ve gone all this time without a sniff of the guys… Usually escapees get caught pretty quickly when they contact friends and family.

These guys are pretty good, I gotta say.

They did get a sniff of the guys. From the Albany Times-Union, “Canines picked up the scents of both Sweat and Matt during the search in a heavily wooded area off of Route 374, and after scouring a 16-square-mile area police on Tuesday said it is believed that both had spent some time there.”

Here’s what I’m starting to wonder:

What if the employee was just a ruse (whether witting or unwitting), who had the intended effect of concentrating massive efforts on searching the local area while the escapees made their way to some distant area?

How so?

Some other accomplice.

What got me to thinking about it is that there have been conradictory statements from various law enforcement officials over whether Mitchell’s getaway car was a Plan A or a Plan B. Assuming they had a different getaway car, then Mitchell presenting herself as the only one would aid them significantly.

And while it’s extremely unlikely that Mitchell would do it deliberately - she’s now facing a jail sentence - her actions are in any event bizarre and unusual. To have first assisted the cons and then had a very abrupt turnabout, voluntarily coming forward to assist the authorities and spilling her guts about all sorts of details. And slowly too, day by day from what I’ve read.

If in fact they executed on an alternative getaway plan, I think there’s little doubt that Mitchell’s post-escape actions aided them significantly. Even then, more likely that they used her as a dupe, but you never know.

Of course, this is all pure speculation about some possibility.

Using her as Plan B is the local Sheriff’s theory. Basically they strung the woman along. Romanced her. “Yeah, we’ll kill your husband for you”. Got her help and some sex too. But never intended to use her car. That would make sense. The stupidest, most idiotic thing they could possibly do is commit a murder right after escaping. That would raise public alarm to almost hysterical levels and intensify the manhunt.

Escapes need to lay low. Don’t commit any crimes whatsoever. Blend in with the population. That’s what they’ve done so far.

All speculation. Even the sheriff is guessing. No one really knows what these two men planned or intended. Other than escaping prison.

It’s not completely backed up, but nevertheless:

"In another recounted exchange, Lady Astor said to Churchill, “If you were my husband, I’d poison your tea,” to which he responded, “Madam, if you were my wife, I’d drink it!”

I’m beginning to wonder if they’re dead. There’s no indication that either of them are country people, and the weather has been cold and wet. I know that if my life depended on making it through the wild for a week and a half, depending on my country knowledge for food and shelter, well, I probably wouldn’t make it.

I recall, “Sir, you are drunk!”
“And you are ugly, Madame. In the morning, I shall be sober.”
