We’re looking for travel help for wife and two teens. She is trying to do three nights for about $1K and she is looking for hotel advice.
So far we have:
$60 Gas from MI
$100 Cubs 250 BlueMan group @3133 N Halsted St
? hotel
$? parking
Can anyone suggest a hotel deal that would be suitable for three? I’m assuming it makes sense to stay a ways out (airports) for more room, free hotel parking, etc? Bars/clubs won’t be part of the trip so I’m not sure staying downtown makes sense considering budget. Another option, I guess, is a two-night stay with late-night drive home. Thank you for the help.
I’d recommend the Chicago Getaway Hostel.
You can get a private room with 4 beds and a private full bath for about $130 per night, that’s pretty cheap.
Call about parking, they have spaces for $25 per day, again that’s pretty cheap but call first to see if they can reserve you one.
If you’re willing to walk just a few blocks you can take the Red line EL to both of your destinations from the hostel. (tried to link a Google map but it didn’t work).
I’d bump up that gas allowance unless you live in Kalamazoo.
Use hotrooms.com to find a hotel. (It’s a Chicago-specific site). Use spothero.com or parkwhiz.com to find and pay for (relatively) cheap parking nearby.
You can get discounted tickets for Blue Man Group at Goldstar
If you want any suggestions of things to do around the area around the theatre, ask away, that is my neighborhood.
Cubs tickets should also be available at any of the usual sports ticket places. Scorebig might be an option, if you don’t have a discount code there, send me a PM and I can come with some. They advertise heavily on sports talk radio.
