Two Towers DVD problem

I picked up The Two Towers: Special Extended Edition DVD’s the other day, and watched a few of the extras on my computer. Then I put disk 3 (first disk of extras) in the DVD player and it wouldn’t start the disk. It seems to be waffling between Title 1 and Title 2, and I can’t get to the root menu. Same problem for disk 4.

I have an AIWA XD-DV series player. Is anyone else having this problem?

I’m not 100% sure this is the right forum, but I suspect most people who can answer this read this forum.

My DVD player on the pc wouldnt play my disks so i just downloaded another DVD player and they worked fine. so that could have just been the fault of the other player.

However I have read in other forums that lots of people are haing trouble with them… I suggest returning them for a new set if at all possible.

I had no problems loading those disks.
I watched the intro and looked at some design galleries on disk 3
I watched the into, the “battle for middle earth has begun” and the music thing on disk 4.

Which other forums? I’ve already returned my copy and purchased another at a different store (to avoid a potentially bad lot). I’ll post again after trying the new set out.

Some of the people in the Two Towers EE thread over at ringbearer.org, had problems, and I read somewhere else too, could have been at warofthering, not really 100% sure there.

Have you looked at TORN? I’d bet there’s possibly something non-standard in the authoring of the EE DVD, and that’s what your player is choking on. Another possibility would be that, if there’s a lot of technical coding, that’s giving your player fits. I have a couple of His and Her Circumstances DVDs that give my PS2 fits because of the sheer complexity of the authoring done by Right Stuf.

My player can’t play the second half of any of the DVD’s. However I did get it to work on a couple of other players. My player is low-end but it could play the FOTR-EE fine.

So I tried out my new set (from a different store) and they don’t work (disk 3 & 4) on the player. They work just fine in the computer. I never thought my DVD player would become obselete wrt DVD’s.

I had a problem with disc 1: chapter selection didn’t work, and when I played the movie, the images would pause and freeze on the screen until they stopped entirely and I couldn’t get it to play any farther. It did this on all 3 of the DVD players I tried the disc in.

I took the set back and exchanged it for another one, which works fine so far. I haven’t played the appendices yet.
