TX, OK, MO, KS dopers be safe -- twisters are coming!!!

I’m watching on KHOU (Houston). Apparently this is supposed to be a nasty, nasty outbreak.

We, here in Arkansas are in the storm corridor. It’s been overcast and humid today and we had one strong shower. I expect it to be worse tomorrow.

Hey, my city already has had a major tornado strike, back when I was a kid. Surely lightening would not strike twice…excuse me, do I hear sirens?

Thanks for the good wishes though, I have a good basement to shelter in.

Do you all have tornado shelters underground? I always wanted this when I lived in the South (kinda like how I was glad I lived in a 1-level home or ranch house in California when earthquakes hit).

I hate this but it looks like the tornado watches/warnings are going into the night. I used to hate this living in the South. There were several nights when tornado watches would start at like 9 or 10 PM and we’d have intense rain, hail, lightning, loud thunder, major winds (60-70 mph). Just the straight line winds would make you think there was a tornado. You never knew if one was gonna drop out of the sky at night and crush your home

I have an in ground shelter. Only problem is I’m afraid of it. Spiders, one notorious snake, and the fear of a piece of debris or a tree will block me in. I used to throw my kids and pets in there and stand in the garage. Dumb, I know. I like to see what’s coming at me.

We had a tornado on Saturday here in Ft. Smith.that I slept through. Sis and her ex hubby got shuffled to the cellar of the mall and my parents got put in the restroom of a restaurant. Apparently it went right past Hooters which is only a few blocks from the house. Unfortunately, Hooters was undamaged.

You were lucky. That storm was bad.

If I was lucky, Hooters would have been destroyed. And I wouldn’t be in AR at all.

You’re in Arkansas for Hooters? I’m ashamed of you. You sure you’re not here for the opportunities and lovely scenary? And such speshul people!

No no no! I HATE Hooters. And I’m here due to a string of unfortunate events. Also to help out with my mom’s newest book launch called (shameless plug)Garrison Avenue, which (tenuous link to thread topic) said tornado traveled down.

I misunderstood. Sorry.

They’ve already canceled tonight’s Royals-Cardinals game in St. Louis because of the storm threat. The TV stations have just broken in with their first tornado sightings, about 100 miles from StL and moving right up I-44.

The Sirens. They seem to mean “go outside and look up”. It’s so very foreboding.

I’ve always enjoyed the lovely scenery but I’ve never felt that I had a real opportunity.
