The station where I bought regular for $3.099 Friday was up to $3.399 by Monday! WTF!
The local paper says it’s due to the closing of a refinery in Coffeyville, KS.
The last time the price rose so much so fast was when DOZENS of oilrigs and refineries closed due to Katrina. I don’t buy that just one refinery can have such an impact.
Yeah - prices in Detroit did that too. Interesting that the news article on that refinery originally said that Michigan was not serviced by that refinery & all of a sudden it is responsible for price increases. Hmmmm… :dubious:
Yes, however your options for public transportation are far greater than those in the US and Canada. Most of us, unless you live in the core of a large urban area, have no option but to drive.
£1.02/litre = $7.90/US gallon for premium in the UK today. Public transport IS better, but not universal. My 13 mile commute would take over an hour by train/bus, I can drive it in about 25 minutes. Since my car gets over 50mpg (UK gallon) it’s cheaper to drive too.
Do you foreigners get charged to three decimal places, which is so stupid!
Remember that they plan on not building new refineries with those record profits, because the capacity won’t be needed.
The only place that I can always count on higher average gas prices across the state is in California. I’m not claiming other places don’t get screwed, we just don’t seem to see the prices drop as much as other places. Wisconsin gets all sorts of excuses thrown at it, beyond the refinery fires.
Note I’m central and there are more expensive areas in this state. One was posted.
