U.S. Senate elections 2012

More Dem than Pub seats are open for challenge this cycle. Does that mean the Pubs might take the Senate?

May well do. 2006 was a great year for Dems, and they are likely to lose seats unless something unexpected happens. McCaskill of MO and Webb’s open seat in VA are likely to be the low water mark for the Republicans. Though a very possible turnover in MA could blunt the blow.

I saw an NRSC ad on Youtube against Bob Kerrey the other day. Is he considering a run in Nebraska? I like Cosmic Bob, and would love to see him replace Lego Man… I mean Ben Nelson. Not likely, though, I’ll bet.

Might they? Certainly. There’s a lot of room in the word “might”. Probably? Yeah, most folks consider it more likely than not. But it’s absolutely not a certainty.

Everything is going wrong for the Democrats in the Senate for this cycle.

Its 53-47. Dems will lose Conrad (ND) and Nelson (Nebraska) and their seats in red states where they have no bench.

51-49 and there are about 9-10 toss-up seats where only one is GOP held (Scott Brown). If they split those ten its over for Harry Reid’s leadership by four seats.

VA, MO, FL, MT, OH, PA, MA, WI, NM

I’m a VA Dem and I’m worried. VA elected that idiot George Allen before, and we might do it again. I don’t want something as important as a Senate seat hinging on whether or not Allen has learned to avoid speaking racial epithets directly at a guy with a camera. Having seen the California faux good ole boy in action, he might not have learned his lesson, but I don’t like the risk.
