U.S. Senate races 2020

And potentially a very similar dynamic too, where intense enthusiasm about a candidate led to unprecedented Democratic turnout in the general that died off quickly for the runoff. The difference being that in 2008 they were enthusiastic to vote FOR the candidate.

Ossoff and Warnock need to get moving on the ground, knock on doors, hold events that adhere to public health guidelines (masks, social distancing etc). It’s clear from what I’ve been reading that lots of Democratic candidates relied on digital campaign methods that didn’t work effectively when the Republicans were knocking on doors. I understand Democrats were a lot more cautious and respectful of the pandemic whereas the Republicans from POTUS down were downplaying Covid, but retail politics and groundwork is still the most effective form of campaigning than online.

One of the things that baffled me about Democratic campaigning was the reluctance to engage in traditional door knocking and GOTV efforts. I get the need to show that they were taking COVID seriously, but they did know it was possible to knock on a door then step back six feet, right?

Alaska is still only 50% counted, the Senate race hangs fire.

Agreed.

I don’t agree so much with your post earlier in the thread; I don’t thinkTrump’s handling of his own exit will have much effect on the Georgia runoffs.

I saw that part of the debate; she still dodged the question. She had the gall to say integrity was the most important thing for her – made me throw up in my mouth a little.

I have no opinion about other GOTV efforts, but I’m firmly against anyone knocking on my door, COVID or no COVID.

Stacey Abrams raised over $3.6 million for the GA Senate races in two days.

That’s awesome.

What entitled GOP crybabies.

I suspect their real complaint is that Raffensperger didn’t rig the election enough for Trump to carry Georgia. Of course, they can’t voice that opinion out loud.

That’s where the sense of entitlement comes in.

One of the best analyses I’ve seen as to Dems’ longterm problems with the Senate.

Glad I don’t live in GA. I was sick of campaign TV ads by early Sept.

And Dan Sullivan, Republican is leading in Alaska.

Obviously its impossible to say how much of a difference it made to the ultimate outcome, but man fuck Cunningham’s dumb ass. Fuck him for cheating on his wife to begin with, and fuck him for doing it in the middle of an election that everyone knew was going to be close. I hope he does get thrown in Leavenworth.

Yeah, he’s right up there with Anthony Weiner, whose laptop that he shared with his wife prompted James Comey to reopen the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails days before the 2016 election.

who is majority leader if senate is 50-50?

whichever party happens to control the whitehouse and the VP that breaks ties in the senate.
