OK, what for the entire last WEEK?? What the hell is wrong with these people? I know you get what you pay for, but I’ve been using Yahoo for my free internet mail for about 4 years now. About 2 years ago they sold my name to some spammers, so now I get assloads of junk every day. Now for months (but daily now for the last week) I get the above message.
Unfortunately, this has been my e-mail address for the longest time and I hate to have to change it. I have all my mail automatically filtering in to the folders where I want it, my address book all set up- everything! ACK!
Anyone have a free internet based e-mail system that does NOT fill your inbox with penis enlarging promises every single day?
Well, first of all, stay the hell away from Hotmail. I have an email addy from them and I made the mistake of not checking for a week. 600 Messages for instant porn, instant credit, and instant pyramid schemes!
I’ve had no problems with Mail.com. Pretty clean interface, though they charge you for POP access. Forwarding is free however.
I have had problems with them as well, but I have the “Explorer cannot access the page” error message. For an email address that doesn’t sell your name, try arabia.com, I have been using them for over 2 years and have yet to receive one letter of spam. That may be becasue I use that address just to post in cognito to a list serve and insult people there without using my “real” email address.
hahaha, Zette, did they set up a “Bulk Mail” folder for you?
Before I had a bulk mail folder, I NEVER got spam or bulk mail. Which tells me Yahoo set up the bulk mail folder because they feel guilty about selling my address to spammers.
Oh, and then there was the time that they decided that I was a minor and suddenly needed to put in my credit card number to access my account that I’d had for 2 years (account opened at the age of 24). WTF?
I really like myownemail.com. Cool domain names and pretty good setup. Only problem is that it has a small capacity, but no junk mail though. I’ve had this account for maybe a year, and the only junkmail I get is stuff I’ve signed up for.
Oh, that took the fucking cake. A “bulk mail” folder? How about you just don’t deliver that shit to me? Leave me alone! I do not need to lengthen or strengthen my penis, I am not impotent, and I do not want to see “hot teen sluts”.
I think it’s a shame when you have something good (I like Yahoo’s interface, their folder system, etc) and screw it all up. With the errors lately, I’m thinking that the CEO took the good mail server on his way out the door.
Seeing as I get legit mail (mailing lists, for the most part, but a few personal messages) that gets filtered into my Bulk Mail folder, I’m damned glad they let it through. I’ll decide what’s unwanted, thanks, but I’m more than happy to have spam pointed out as suspect.
Hey Zette, you have my sympathy - once you get used to an email box it really sucks when you can’t access it. I have a Yahoo mail box, have had for about the last year. Seems OK most of the time, but…
I have to disagree with you about the bulk mail. I can appreciate the free email service, and the fact that somehow it must be paid for. They have ads on the web site, and bulk mail in the mailbox. Just delete it, since they have that nice conveniet way to delete all ‘checked’ mail.
Anyway, hope you can access your mail soon, you never know what unbeatable offers you’re missing!!!
Don’t get me wrong- I would have no problem if the offers were anything legitimate, but you should see the stuff I get- porn, get rich quick, penis lengtheners, etc. Good thing I’m not a kid!
I hear ya- I was just thinking to myself:
I wonder how I could lengthen my impotent penis at home while earning my degree plus extra money while looking at hot teen sluts AND improve my credit? Hmmmmmmmm…
I hate to disagree, but I have never given my Yahoo address out to any commercial website and I get absolutely no spam (save that for the Hotmail address).
I doubt that it’s Yahoo giving out your address. Pretty sure there is a check box when you sign up to avoid that. But not being able to log on is definitely a pain in the ass–I had a particularly urgent e-mail that I was unable to access for a couple of days recently. Drove me insane.
I have both yahoo and hotmail accounts, but I don’t get much spam, and most of it can be traced to Ebay. Either Ebay sells your email address, or the spammers troll for sellers email adresses. Everytime I seel something, I get like 20 adds to start accepting credit cards. Oddly, I get a fair amount of spam from my University account, which I never use for commmerce. Weird.
Well, I never get spam, and I have 3 yahoo accounts. You’d think if they sold names, at least one of my accounts would be hit, wouldn’t you? Fiance has 3 accounts too, and the only junk email he gets is the kind he signed up for.
Whenever I’m bored (which is very, very often) I go around setting up new E-mail accounts. There must be hundreds on the Internet that have been created by me.
Yes… it’s true… 100% FREE pop3 and web mail @mailroom.com It’s the internet’s best secret since sliced http://www.bread.com (ok, that was lame). There’s other domains too go see @ http://www.fnmail.com
Best of all… NO lame advertising! What more can you want?
Yeah, I did that too, before settling down with my current Yahoo! account almost two years ago. I have tons of e-mails everywhere under the name ‘neptune_1984’ or “neptune84”. Sometimes I’ll still create new e-mail addresses and forward my mail but I always come crawling back to Yahoo.
As for the spam, I get tons of it (got a piece just now) but I always blamed it on the fact that I am subscribed to a ton of newsletters, mostly through shagmail.com.
