I don’t think rational thought went into his decision making process, regardless of his level of education. In fact, mid-20s is frequently when certain types of mental illness begin to appear. It’s not unusual, as professors, to be someone the first to be aware of a student’s decline.

Without any context or further information? Did he kill, fly halfway across the country and kill again, or did he kill Minnesota woman a long time ago?

So yeah, it sounds like he killed the woman, drove to LA, killed the professor and then died. How horrible.
edit: According to this article it was the kill list that led them to finding the dead woman.
The authorities haven’t released info on that killing because of the hitlist and the ongoing investigation.
As a former college student many times I thought of some way of “getting back” at teachers or school leaders whom I had a problem with. I never would have done any of them though. Nowadays students just post on “Rate My Professor”. I do wish colleges would take student evaluations more seriously AND include those of students who drop out of a course before the end.
Sadly though with the millions of college students out there something like this was bound to happen sooner or later. Its just math. If there are only say 1 in 100 million who would do such a thing and the millions of students with such thoughts, this was bound to happen. The fact that it only happens once ever 10 years or so is amazing.
