Welcome to the Dope. May I take your sock puppet?
Where between opposing SSM and kitten-grinding is the drop off point? The kitten-grinder working for minimum wage would still have to join the ranks of the unemployed to take a stand.
Perhaps. Or perhaps look for a new job and quit upon finding a new job. Or perhaps complain to management that the Evil Employer should give up its Evil Agenda.
So you feel that generally speaking, Agents of Evil deserve no scorn, condemnation, or criticism for the evil they help to perpetrate if they are low-level employees, just doing their jobs to put food on the table?
Absolutely.
Why’s that? Because he doesn’t express the liberal attitude toward SSM that you do?
Adam, is that you?
I would guess it’s mostly because he feels it gives him more credibility since he is arguably advocating on behalf of a group to which he does not belong. And maybe just a little bit because deep down he is worried that the likes of Dan Cathy are right and that homosexual conduct is wrong.
Lol, no. I just think the guy’s being excessively condemned. Or at least that he’s being condemned for the wrong reasons.
Or so you say…
Sure, because being fired is a great way to teach those evil corporate bastards a lesson or two. I’m sure the finance company would gladly forgive your next car payment if you quit your job and explained to them you did so because of this agent-of-evil bullshit. And, if you happen to have kids who depend on that paycheck for their next meal, then what the hell, let them eat cake.
A polite complaint is unlikely to result in a discharge.
Anyway, please answer my question from before:
So you feel that generally speaking, Agents of Evil deserve no scorn, condemnation, or criticism for the evil they help to perpetrate if they are low-level employees, just doing their jobs to put food on the table?
I’m just trying to figure out exactly what your position is.
Heck, while we are here I wouldn’t mind hearing your “right” reasons
Seriously.
A young lady serving chicken sandwiches from a small window is as far from an agent-of-evil as your argument is from logic. You’re sounding more and more like Adam Smith here.
I agree, but what about my earlier post. If a person decides to boycott CFA, and the boycott works, people like this young lady will be out of a job. Which is worse, some asshole lecturing you, or not having a job?
It seems as if a successful boycott would hurt this girl more than some needledick causing her a few minutes of discomfort..
Ummm, does that mean yes or no?
Well, technically the asshole of the OP did BOTH
I LOLed.
Make it daily. Definitely go for the fried sandwiches, and don’t be afraid to double up. You could really show your support by smoking heavily, if you don’t already. Unfiltereds. And have you considered taking up BASE jumping? Don’t make the rookie mistake of focusing too much on packing your chute. It’s all about having fun and taking a stand, bro!
Nope. In so doing, he was demonstrating what a cheerleader he is against the engines of hate, even though he has no particular dog in this fight, by hating on some girl who most likely picked up the job so she can pay her cell phone bill. He should be lauded. Viva la revolution! /sarcasm
If the company you work for has come out, very publicly, saying they support a controversial civil/human-rights issue you’re against (or are even for), and this company loses money and has to downsize or even close their doors for doing so, because potential customers support or don’t support with their wallets – that’s on the company and their dumb-ass policy.
You can’t put blame on me for not buying a chicken sandwich because I don’t agree with the business’s political leanings, just because the minimum wage workers might lose their jobs. If anything, I’d rather CFA drop their hateful policy and save the jobs they’ve created, if it comes to that.
Yet, if I get in my car, order a free water, while recording myself, berating an employee that can’t do jack-shit about it, one way or the other, you’re just showing how much of an asshole you are, and not doing the boycott or the employee any favors.
I’ll just stick to not patronizing the restaurant (regardless to the fact they’re not in my area).
