Ugh, Embarrassed this Douche is on "My side" (Chik-fil-a)

The guy posted a video apology. I have to admit I didn’t watch much because it goes on for almost 8 minutes. No really. While I apreciate the video apology (although, I think he is more sorry folks found out he is a douchecanoe) I hope he goes in to the restaurant and apologizes in person and does so sincerely without any caveats.

Bingo. Why can’t people understand this distinction?

Eight minutes? I’m not planning to watch it, but is it that long because it’s one long string of excuses and non-apologies?

What can I say, I got a thing for redheads.

He does a full out, real deal, straight up apology, but then he spins it at the end by suggesting that it all works out because now we see the kind of passion that people can have for defending the Rachels of the world from rude people, so we can now turn that passion toward fighting companies like Chik fil a.

So, full apology at the beginning, spin at the end.

The first half or so is one part apology one part explanation. The rest is him answering some questions that he’s gotten a lot of: why did he post the video? Why did he state that he was not gay? Why is he whining about his personal info being out there since he released it.

There’s really not much he can do at this point, but I think he’s probably not a bad guy who let his self-righteousness carry him away to doucheland. I’m glad that it blew up in his face, but I don’t think that the guys life should be ruined over this. I don’t like him, but I don’t hate him. Certainly not enough for this one incident to ruin his life. Hopefully, in a month or two he can go back to being a more anonymous self-righteous douche.

Ironically, the longer gays keep Chick-Fil-A in the spotlight, the worse it is for this guy. And that’s some interesting Karma right there.

So, he doubled down on the douchbaggery? He’s gonna have to go for 3 out 5 now and not screw up three whole times in a row? Things are not looking good for Adam.

Unless she actually stands for anti-gay marriage, but I doubt she’d be stupid enough to ever offer her opinion publicly in this aftermath, if that’s the case. Then again, anything could happen.

I agree that it is troublesome the damage the Internet can do to anyone in an instant. We’ve seen it before, but damn, this guy was probably expecting to be lauded as a hero from the opponents of the zeitgeist behind Chik-Fil-a (which also makes him a self-serving dick), and it backfires in a way unprecedented before the Internet age.

Maybe it’s for the best; he’ll find another job working for douchebags who think what he did was awesome, and see him as a martyr. Or he’ll be able to spin this whole experience as a humbling moment, and lob seminars at other douchbags that’ll sell out stadiums based on the fame of his negative press.

Or make a crapload on optioning the movie rights.

Once CFA Appreciation Day was announced, it wasn’t “gays” keeping CFA in the spotlight, but CFA and Huckabee and supporters.

Cathy’s remarks -> Boycott -> Jim Henson Co withdrew -> CFA Appreciation Day -> Aftermath of CFAAD. Unless some new development occurs, it’ll probably fall off the news cycle by Tuesday.

Personally I’m starting to wonder if we all didn’t get played hard by Cathy. Whip up some free publicity via social controversy and boost store sales.

If we find out she’s a lesbian that would be a nice touch.

That woooould be interesting.

Freedom of speech is a protection from the government acting against a citizen, not another citizen acting against a different citizen.

Some constitutional rights are protected from discrimination in the workplace. Speech isn’t one of them.

Beejezzus. I watched about the first minute and the last couple. This guy needs to STF up and hire a PR firm. Its pretty bad when the apology comes off as more douchbaggery than the initial offense.

He’s “been want to apologize to Rachel”? ever since the words first came out of his mouth? Interesting that this video didn’t come out till his ass got fired. GFD that’s lame. I’d bet good money he didn’t drive down there to try to find her and apologize did he? And if he did the douche probably would have recorded that and posted it on youtube just to show what a “nice” guy he is.

I’ll have to check my D&D character hit point tolerance for douchbaggery before I watch the whole thing.

I don’t think the guy’s life needs to be ruined…but still…what a gawd damn pompass dick.

I think you would lose that bet. This dude is in full calculating damage control mode right now. He wouldn’t gamble the risk that she may speak to the press and call him a liar. So, I believe he tried to go back to talk to her and she was like, “Uh-uh. Stay the fuck back.”

I honestly thought the first bit with the apology was well done. He seemed to take full responsibility, acknowledge he was just dead wrong, assure her he had learned his lesson, credit her for being a work of class in the face of douchery. He did good with that part, but the spin later was bullshit.

The thing that really gets under my skin in the original video is that it’s just so obvious that he thinks he’s going to blow her mind. Like he’s going to pull back the curtain on the machine. With the rhetorical equivalent of “your boss is a poo.”

I had never heard of this food chain before all this stuff. After searching I found there is one 2 miles from my house. I do not eat junk food often, but I will be going there a couple times a month to support them.

What would you expect the employee to do? Quit his job and join the 8.3% unemployed while searching for a new way to support himself? Your complaint is with the company and it’s policy, not it’s workforce laboring to put food on the table. If those employees were grinding up live kittens to make dog food you might have a point, but that’s not close to what’s happening.

I don’t either, but as a homosexual I’m glad he did since it distances me a little more from him.

Actually, I feel sorry for the guy because I think he was having some sort of mild episode. He ain’t right. Either that or he’s the human incarnation of Stan’s dad from South Park.

I hope Chick Fil A gives that girl a nice bonus of some sort because a PR exec with 30 years of experience couldn’t have handled the situation better or been more of a credit to the employer.

Now that’s funny.
