I’m completely satisfied. Great feel good ending, and the “Ugly” fading away was a bit sniffle-worthy. Damn allergies.
I was very pleased with the final episode, and yes, I cried during the last 20 minutes or so that resolved issues and relationships, and everyone lived happily ever after (well, assuming that Daniel and Betty end up together, which is what the episode portends). I think that mixed in with my “happy” tears was a sadness that this show is over. Yeah, it had some moments I didn’t like (such as the Matt affair, as someone else mentioned), but overall, it was clever, sophisticated, great dialog, funny/sad/happy/dramatic moments and characters (and actors) whom you loved even though they were not so nice (e.g., Amanda, Marc).
I totally teared up during the finale! I thought it was a good way to go out and I’m sad that it’s gone for good. I like that they didn’t make Betty completely over but she definitely evolved during the show.
Oh Betty, how I’ll miss you!
Just now watching it.
Love the Marc cuddling with Willi scene, and the text that ricochets around the office. And of course Austin is eating with the family- this is why many gays love the show- the acceptance and “no big thing” aspect we all wish we had with our families.
Is it me or has Connor really aged in the last year and a half or so?
“We live in a food free household.” Betty finding Halston was great. (That happened to my mother once, except it was just the dog’s head.)
Willi’s hospital book: Better Healing Through Anger. Did anybody notice that when she told Claire to “flap your bat wings and leave” Claire turned around to reveal two little holes in the back of her dress perfect for wings?
Yeah, the ending was kind of ferklempt making. The goodbyes were sweet knowing that the actors were saying goodbyes as well and the tears were probably will. I like that Marc and Amanda weren’t syrupy when they said goodbye to her but conveyed they really would miss her at the same time.
And while I’m glad that they never pursued a Daniel-Betty romance on the show, strangely I like that they ended with (the possibility) of one. Whether he’s in love with her or not he definitely loves her deeply- when his wife died the first thing he did was text her “I need you”, and she immediately went to him without even calling to ask why. Plus in London- a city that’s relatively strange to both of them- and with him no longer being her boss- who knows. (A pity they don’t make a continuing Britcom.)
Ah, I’m going to miss Clan Suarez. Such a pity that they got canceled just as they were getting their sea legs back, but at least they didn’t just fade away to “who cares?” and really did have a great final phase.
Adios amigos. Here’s hoping Silvio Horta will be back with a series that has the same heart.
Trivia I didn’t know- others may have: Troy, Marc’s Bahamas trick turned clingy boyfriend turned lamented ex boyfriend, was played by Matt Newton, Becki’s brother. (Pic together.)
I’ve missed most of Ugly Betty over the past few years, but did catch the finale. Nice to see everything wrapped up rather nicely. I figured I should mention that there’s talk of a movie. I’d totally love to see that happen.
Unfortunately I missed a few episodes due to a freak tivo accident. But I caught the last few. I did like the finale. It’s good that they brought Henry back but also good that he wasn’t her man anymore. It’s cool that she got to head a magazine of the sort of which she cares about. It didn’t have to be in London but it’s nice that she’s with her friend. As far as Daniel as a love interest, I wouldn’t have wanted that during the series, but as a series ender, I’m OK with that. It’s nice that they made it semi-ambiguous.
One thing I missed - it seemed like Papi’s nurse girlfriend was back briefly but then she left again? What was the story with her?
Not really said, but she turned up now and again so apparently they were still an item. Time spent on the (stupid and pointless) sideplot they brought in with Tyler (Claire’s long lost son) and later with Justin’s coming out and Betty’s most recent abortive romance with Matt all led to a very reduced role for Papi this season.
I thought Papi’s nurse girlfriend got a nice job in another state, but they’re clearly still on very good terms and Papi doesn’t really need to stay in NY, so I’m going to assume if he starts getting lonely, it would be easy to pack up and fix that.
Haven’t seen the show in probably 18 months but did DVR the last ep to see how it all turned out. No real urgency about it, though…
