ugly clothes

Does anyone here besides me have some ugly clothes that you just love in spite of (or perhaps because of) their loudness or tastelessness? Maybe just an old beat up confortable shirt your SO keeps trying to slyly discard without your realizing it?

Aside from my Hawaiian shirts, I have a velvet orange paisley tuxedo jacket. I wore this to my sister’s wedding reception, mainly because she said I didn’t have the guts to really wear it in public. I did have the decency at least to wait until the professional photographer left before switching tux jackets. I wish it was a better picture of me, but it’s a great one of the jacket.

That is quite the jacket BratMan. Kudos.

I havea deep purple pair of Nike shorts that I have owned since my senior year of high school (7 years ago). Unfortunately, at some point I dropped Clorox on them and proceeded to wash them resulting in the left side being quite splotchy. On top of that, the Clorox successfully ate through the shorts enough to leave some holes. Not big ones, but holes nonetheless. My mom has offered to pay me $20 to throw them away. My wife wants them limited to yard work use. I consider them the most comfortable shorts I have and will wear them anywhere.

Hi! <How’s the non-smoking going?> Personally, (and I know I’m weird), that jacket works for me! I’m not really a fan of orange, though, I could wish it had a different main color. I like it! It’s funky, cool, unique. :stuck_out_tongue:

The rest of you’s not bad either!

Mully, deep purple, eh? I like purple! As long as you’re not showing off the family jewels, I say wear them!

It’s the orange that makes it so ugly though, it’s one of the things that drew me to the jacket.

Thank you, cuz that’s not even a good pic of me! Of course I’ve rarely seen good pics of me after a six pack or two . . .

BratMan, that jacket rules!!! How much do ya want for it? I don’t have anything spectacular, just an old t-shirt with a picture of Tetsuo, from the animated movie Akira. I love that shirt. Unfortunately, I washed it with an ink pen and so it has big ink blotches all over it, as well as most of the picture fading off the shirt. Nevertheless, I, too, will wear that shirt anywhere.

Mully, I feel ya, man.

Sorry, Demo, the jacket is NOT for sale. I found it at a retro clothing store called Hullaballoo in St Louis. Maybe you can find something similar where you live. Just don’t be afraid to buy something second hand.

I guess chicks aren’t supposed to own ugly clothes–but I do, since it’s a well known fact to those who know me, that I have very little fashion sense. Part of it comes from wearing a uniform 6 days a week, so it’s actually pretty rare when I have to think about what I’m supposed to wear.

My two favorite ugly pieces:

A pair of pajama bottoms, in this lovely pink/purple/grey/white/black plaid. And, yes, I do wear them in public.

A thread-bare black t-shirt that I can’t stand to get rid of, because on the back, in yellow lettering, it says “the beatings will continue until morale improves” Could YOU throw that one away?

Mmmm boy, aren’t you the handsome man, Brat. I even like the ugly jacket. I hate to say it, but it kindof reminds me of a ( ::ducks for cover:: ) smoking jacket. But don’t smoke in it!

I don’t have any particularly loud or obnoxious clothes, so I have nothing else to add here. Just wanted to say I think you’re a babe.

Damn, aren’t I popular today? I should post a good pic of me if you ladies like that one. You all should stop though, before I get any cockier than I already am.

Hey Shayna, could I add that to my signature?

JavaMaven, I love that t-shirt! I wouldn’t throw it away either!

Ok, BratMan, I double dare you to post a ‘better’ picture of yourself! <Hey, I can look! I just can’t touch, darn it!>:p

Oh, hi, honey!! What? No, I didn’t post that, that was someone else…

Demo, what does psycat think of that shirt? <It’d be fine with me>

I do have one shirt, short sleeved, cotton, long shirttails, mostly black with white polka dots in some areas, bright orange roses in some other areas, bright fuchsia roses in other areas, and some assorted wild flowers, polka dots, stripes, and yellow splotches of color dotted around the shirt. I love it and wear it a lot! <well, I used to wear it a lot, but I just tried it on the other day, and it almost fits again!>

Would you like one of me in my Air Force uniform, or something more recent? (Been out of the AF for 4 years now) And since I don’t have a home page (that pic is from my sister and brother-in-law’s page) where can I post a pic to set up a link?

Quoth Purplebear:

Sounds like a fashion designer threw up on it; Have you tried washing it?

My favorite t-shirt of all time, which I had to abandon when it shrank away, was one I picked up in Charleston, SC:

A giant cockroach on the front with the caption “Charleston Night Life.”

I’ve never had a single article of clothing that generated more conversation.

Brat, my dear, I’ll take any picture of you I can get! I’m a sucker for the AF uniform, though. As to where to post a link, I don’t even know how to do that, much less where. Ask techchick68, you can email her, she may do it for you.

VB, my dear buddy, just you wait! You’re in deep trouble now!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m going to ignore Mjollnir’s post since he mentions the most hated creature on this planet. ::SHUDDER::

When did Mjollnir mention my ex? I didn’t even realize he knew my ex.

Brat, of course you may use that in your sig, honey!

As for where/how to upload a pic of yourself, why don’t you set up your own geocities account? It’s free and only takes a few minutes to get started. Just go to http://www.geocities.com and it should walk you through how to sign up for your own home page.

You don’t have to know HTML or how to design a website to set up a place to upload images!

Once you have your own account with Yahoo/geocities, enter your account and click the link that says “Upload & FTP.” It’ll take you to their “EZ Upload” screen where you’ll see spaces to enter the locations of your images from your hard drive to upload them. Click the “Browse” button next to the first space and navigate to the folder on your computer where the image file is saved. Choose the image and click OK. Once you’ve done that, click the “upload” button and voila!

If any of this was confusing or you have any other questions just let me know.

grins Thats a really cool jacket BratMan

Now let me think of some ugly clothes of mine… I have a purple shirt that is really thin and has lots of holes. I keep thinking I have to sew a couple of them up (Like the ones around the neck so it doesn’t fall off one of these days) and maybe stick some patches of some cool cloth to make it neater.

I have a neon green/yellow/blue t-shirt dress. The neon green is what stands out though. (I’m wearing it right now actually)

Um thats all I have that I can think of. Most of my stuff is in pretty decent shape and not too ostentaneous. (I try to not draw attention to myself as a general rule)

Purplebear, I’m sure she’ll love it!

Dude, next time i’m at your place, you gotta show me that shirt :). Akira is one of my favorite movies.

As for me, i dont have anything really striking, but I have some clothes i wear around that are very old and worn and ugly:

  • An originally olive green t-shirt from the company “Downright Pinoy”. I wore it so much that the lettering is now totally faded of, and you can barely see it (it’s like a ghost image). The colar is worn in spots, and it’s very very faded, almost a pea green now. There’s a few holes here and there, mostly on the seams, and one on the shirt body. There are also a few bleach spots on it.

  • A pair of black shorts, made of the same material sweats are made of (a bit finer), that my parents got me in Vegas when they went a couple of years ago. There used to be a logo on it (I forget the company that made it) but it has totally worn off. I usually wear it around the house because it just doesnt feel like something to wear around town (not to mention there’s some holes along the seam in the back :)). I’m not afraid to wander outside in them to take the trash out.

-Several assorted faded shirts. Not too ugly, but definately not something I’d wear to a dinner with friends.

I figure if I wear the green shirt, and the black shorts, with old beat up thongs (the shoes), i’d look very trashy ;).
