I was watching the Seinfeld episode where Jerry has a favourite shirt
I only have one. I have a leather jacket. It’s one of those Pepsi, black leather jackets. Remember when Pepsi had the slogan “Drink Pepsi, get stuff.” I got it at a thrift shop for $5.00.
I wonder how much Pepsi the original owner had to drink to get it.
I’ve had the coat for 15 years and it’s still in great shape, but if I lost it, or it tore, I’d be very sad.
So do you have a favourite piece of clothing? A shirt? A pair of shoes? A scarf? Whatever.
Summer - a tobacco brown sleeveless rayon sundress, one of those heavily embroidered gauze things from India.
Winter - any one of my collection of cashmere pullovers (I have about half a dozen gleaned from thrift stores, and no, they don’t have any moth holes!). Any other sweater I own now - wool, cotton, acrylic, even chenille - feels as heavy and itchy and cumbersome as a shirt made from chain mail.
hm, I hijacked a fantastic icelandic hand knit sweater from an old flame … very comfy. It has to be one of my favorite items. I also have a microfibre throw that I adore as well. I also have a black heavy cotton kaftan that is amazingly comfy.
I love things with a lot of pockets, especially little pockets in unexpected locations. My winter coat, from A&F, has 12 pockets . . . including special ones for cell phone, glasses, etc.
And I love my tux, mainly because I get to wear my gold/mother-of-pearl cuff link & stud set my partner bought me on our first trip to Paris.
My grey fleece. Most comfortable jacket I have ever had. Its lined. The pockets are lined. I wear it all the time. Never seen the brand in stores. I have only been able to find them online.
My wife hates it. She thinks it is the ugliest piece of clothing I own. She’ll tell me its too cold to wear the fleece. In spring she will tell me its too warm to wear it. But its just so damn comfortable.
It varies. At the moment I’m really into a black, 80s style batwing sweater I got from Topshop as part of my late-seventies proto-goth dinner party costume (You can’t see much of the sweater here, but the general look is apparent).
I also really like a houndstooth, Chanel-style capelet cardigan thing I got for about 50p from Scope. I get compliments on it from fellow thrifters even if it does intermittently smell like wet dog.
Oh, and I recently caved to pressure from real adults and bought some hundred-quid sturdy-buckled black leather “investment boots”, after spending most of my twenties in £2 sequinned ballet slippers from off the back of a van. Naturally said boots have no tread and are disintegrating at speed, but aesthetically they’re still a favourite.
NASA ballcap. I’ve gone through several iterations of the ballcap, as they keep getting faded and torn. I think I’m on my fourth one so far. The one I wear now is the ‘new’ logo, the last one was the ‘old’ style with the blue circle and comet.
I have a white button-down shirt that has a little bit of runching at the seam that I adore. I don’t wear it too often, because I don’t want to wear it out too fast, because I want to save it for dressier occasions, but it’s so crisp and flattering! I wish I’d bought more than one.
I also have an old, holey wool sweater that I’ve had since I was 13. I should throw it away, but I can’t bring myself to pitch it because it’s so warm. I also enjoy that my mother hates that I get compliments on it all the time, since she’s threatened to pitch it if I even bring it with me when I visit her.
I have a 1989 Who shirt - 3/4 sleeves - from the The Kids Are Alright reunion tour. I was 3 when the tour happened, but I was 16 when I found it in a bin at Salvation Army for 65 cents. It is an xl, but I’m pretty sure that it must be a girl’s shirt originally, because I am losing weight to get back into it…I love that shirt…
I have this Elton John t-shirt from the Broken Hearts tour. I was a little girl when this tour happened but my aunt went and bought me the t-shirt. I still have it and my husband HATES that I wear it. It’s just sooo soft. I love it.
