UK-Continental Europe PS2 games

Hello Dopers,

Somehow I can’t get my google-fu to work…Is the PS2 and the games on a different region in the UK then continental Europe?

I don’t think the games are region encoded as such, they are either PAL or NTSC. The UK uses the PAL system and I suspect Germany does too.

For movies, region 2 includes the European Union which would be the UK, Germany etc.

Thanks…I saw a copy of FF7 for 30euros and as I picked it up the guy selling it asked me if I realized it was the ‘english’ version. Come to think of it he might have meant a ‘us’ version.

I guess I’ll have to go check…

Nope. I’m in Ireland and have bought games in the UK and Holland and played them on my Irish PS2.

The US is a different system though.
