UK football, season 2008/09, forecasts

Perhaps you’ve overlooked the team I support.
Try supporting Crystal Palace.

If only we could return to the glory days of . . . of . . .

Ah, well.

As for predictions, I really hope Pompey get top 4. Palace will fail in the play-offs, again.

Look here you suvvern poof, you’re making me very angry, don’t make me come to Lunnon and sort you out.

I’m assuming that living in Lunnon you support Manure
Oi!, Watch it.

I’m an Oldham supporter thank you very much.

You think you have problems. I’m still yearning for the days we were allowed to play at that level.

It’s all Man City’s fault for stealing Joe Royle I say.
The FA may well do another ‘fitness’ test and force him to sell up. Rumours are flying that Hughes is going to resign. It’s so pathetic it is almost funny. It could only happen to City.
If true, that would be very sad indeed - in an amusing kind of way. Seriously though, as a life-long Red who has matured beyond the simple ethos of ‘hate those Blue bastards from across the City’, I’d love to see both sides competing for all the top honours, while obviously hoping my side wins. I’m still dreaming of United and City competing in a final at Wembley, and Manchester taking over London for the day. I’d even change my armchair supporter status for that one.

Well at least you beat the sleeping giants of football last night. The mighty Rochdale

I come from Manchester and support United. Within Manchester itself, it’s a 50/50 split between utd and city. At least that’s my experience.

I think Utd may struggle this year with Ronaldo and Rooney both missing the first couple of months. After that they’ll probably start winning every game but by then it may be too late. Shame because we only need one more to equal Liverpool.

But then, before last season started I thought they would struggle and look what happened.

Wow a Mancunian supporting Manure.

*makes note on pad…that’s 5 so far

Most of the people I know are mancunian United fans.

I know a few City fans as well but we just keep them around as pets.

I know a few manure fans, we keep 'em as dumb animals

I, on the other hand, am the London-living Oldham fan. And I’ll take a penalties win over Rochdale, thank you.

One thing most City fans have got( and og knows, they need it!) is a sense of humour, and we can’t take that from away them.

Dr. Adam Brown of the Manchester Institute of Popular Culture (Manchester Metropolitan University) conducted a survey, published in 2002, entitled Do You Live in Manchester - A Postcode Analysis of the Location of Manchester United and Manchester City Season Ticket Holders (2001).

City had 6,678 season ticket holders living in the ‘M’ postal areas whereas United had 7,808 resident in the same districts.

Man U do not play in Manchester, as has been pointed out ad nauseum to us Blues as justification to a move to Kirkby.

Is that why it has an M16 postcode?

Geography

Old Trafford makes up the northern tip of Trafford and adjoins St. Georges, Hulme, Whalley Range and Moss Side – **all of which are within the boundaries of the City of Manchester **– and Ordsall to the northeast, which is within the boundaries of the City of Salford. The crossroad of Brooks Bar divides Old Trafford, Moss Side, Hulme and Whalley Range.

Or is there something I’m missing?

Where did they get their Salford Redsox nickname from, if not Salford?

I’m sure it’s just wishful thinking on Salford’s part. A bit of glamour certainly wouldn’t go amiss around those parts, and I’m sure they’d love to be known for something more than an association with “Coronation Street”.

p.s. Even their favourite son, Tony Wilson, would have preferred to have come from Manchester.

Almost enough for three rounds of prawn sandwiches.

As for last night.

That’s what I mean - the same gutless, couldn’t give a toss lack of pride, lack of skill, lack of effort bullshit we ended the season on and displayed all through the pre-season. Something is seriously wrong at the heart of the club.
Using the same reasoning, because they don’t play within the boundaries of the City of London, Arsenal/Chelsea/etc. don’t play in London.

Because that’s what the post office give it. Post codes have nothing to do with anything apart from which route your mail takes.

Yes - the bit in the box on the right: “Metropolitan borough - Trafford”, i.e. not Manchester City Council. See File:Greater Manchester County (3).png - Wikipedia

Last night was all part of a master plan to lure all opposition into a false sense of security.

It amazes me, it really does. Could none of you see that City deliberately lost that game in order that aforementioned plan would immediately have the rest of the premier league teams believing they’d having nothing to beat.

The poor misguided fools.

Whatever floats your boat

I was expecting you to beat the Danes, pretty much as easily as Villa beat our magnificent Icelanders from FH.
