UK Reunion Tour

Any other prog rock fans out there who have seen, or are planning to see, UK on their reunion tour?

I just got home from the Portland show, and it was amazing. Bozzio’s drum solo was one of the best I’ve ever seen. Wetton was sick and his voice was a little hoarse, but he still did an admirable job. Many singers lose it when they get older, and can’t hit the high notes anymore, but to me Wetton sounds the same today as he did when he was in his twenties.

The cool thing about this show was that since they only put out two studio albums back in the day, they played almost their entire output. The high points of the night were Carrying No Cross, In the Dead of Night, and The Only Thing She Needs. But really, there wasn’t a bad moment during the show.

If you’re at all familiar with this band and they’ll be coming to your town, I highly recommend going. It’ll be well worth the $40 ticket!

I’m not really a prog-rock fan, but I always enjoyed UK. I saw them way back in the day when they opened for Jethro Tull. I had no idea who they were at the time, but they really gave Tull a run for their money.

Alas, no dates near me.

Yes, going tomorrow to the LA show! I got a VIP seat which gets me within the first four rows and a meet and greet at the sound check. Been listening to both albums, the live one, and assorted bootlegs. Never saw UK, but I saw Bozzio twice with Missing Persons – once at the Roxy in Hollywood from about 8 feet! Really looking forward to The Only Thing She Needs and Caesar’s Palace Blues.

Rats! I’m out on a roadrip and won’t be able to see them (unless I decide to hightail it to Albuquerque right now…:p)

I’ve been hoping that the Brand X tour will get off the ground this summer, but it seems to have fizzled out.
