Ah, it does not look blue to me for some reason. I see it now though.
Even professional camera operators seem to be losing the ability to produce “well shot videos”. During the recent occupation of Ottawa by the trucker’s convoy people, there were several times when the reporter on the street wanted the camera to focus on something other than the reporter themselves, and it was like pulling teeth to get the camera operator to understand that, and actually show a decent shot.
“Okay, I’m going to get Bob to pan right here, to show you this thing that’s happening. Pan right Bob. Bob, pan right. No, right Bob. Bob, that’s left. You’re showing them a shot of a wall. Pan the other way, Bob!”
And when Bob finally pans right, he holds the shot for maybe three seconds, then goes right back to looking at the reporter.
Maybe all they teach in photo journalism class now is how to film in portrait mode on your iPhone, instead of landscape mode where you could actually see everything.
Bob knows where his bread is buttered from…
I just watched a video on the Russian invasion of Ukraine…circa 1918-1922. It really tells the story of how hard the Ukrainians are willing to fight, even if they ultimately go down. At one point, Ukraine is fighting the Red Army, the White Army, various partisan groups, and Poland as well! Even the allied powers of WWI were involved at one point. I knew a lot of this, but it really brings things home to see some of the historical contexts to some of this.
Ok, this is a cool video. No one talks, but it shows a map of the Russian invasion time-lapsed, so you can see where Russia is pushing into Ukraine over time. It’s…kind of a chilling view if you haven’t seen it. ETA: It’s only about a minute and a half if anyone wants to check it out.
Yegods, it’s like watching a fungus grow or something.
Why is music added to that? Jesus, I find that grotesque.
Slime mold was what came to my own mind. It was pretty creepy though watching the red spread. I’ve seen it on one of the interactive maps I have running, but you don’t see it progress over time.
