This weekend, I had to do a complete re-install of Windows XP. Thus, although I had installed IE8, I was using an older version of Java. I got the icon message that a new version of Java ( Version 6 Update 13) was available. I downloaded it and try to install, but I got a 25099 error message. I went to the help center(http://www.java.com/en/download/help/error_25099.xml), which recommened uninstalling older version of Java, which I did. (As for Quick starter mentioned, it wasn’t found) However, I keep getting the error message. I downloaded Windows Installer CleanUp Utility(http://www.java.com/en/download/help/uninstall_java.xml), but no Java is listed on the list of programs. In the first link, Step #5 mentions any Java software. I have OpenOffice installed, could this be the problem. If not, how do I fix this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I managed to find and install Java 6 update 12 successfully. So far, no problems.
