Make a slice of toast. Grate some yummy cheese, hmm Gouda! Cut up a slice of, (already cooked, in fridge), bacon, microwave 8-9 secs, spread favourite chili sauce on the toast, place the bacon, cover with the cheese and microwave 15-25 secs, until the cheese is melty.
(With practice can be done in under three minutes.)
(High quality bacon, cheese, and bread really elevate this to epic!)
One of my go-to meals is stewed chicken thigh, (instant) mashed potatoes and peas.
The thigh goes in a pot with chicken broth and water if necessaryto cover the chicken. The peas get cooked in milk, butter, and water, then the instant potatoes are stirred in with the peas until it’s the right consistency.
After eating, when the pot has cooled, I put it in the freezer for the next meal. After a few rounds, the broth is nearly “stand a spoon in it” thick.
Hot Dogs Ryan. It’s named for a long-ago housemate in my bachelor days who showed it to me.
Slice two or three frankfurters into coin-sized rounds. Throw them in a frying pan with about a quarter cup of barbecue sauce and stir till they’re all heated. Takes less than five minutes. If you want to get fancy, eat them with a side of buttered white bread.
I have a brick of Ramen in a ziplock bag. When Rocco, our parrot, is being demanding, I break off a cubic centimeter of the Ramen and drop it in 1/4 cup boiling water. Rocco knows them as “noodles”.
For me, the “best” dinner is the one that uses the fewest pans, plates, and utensils, while still being more than a microwaved burrito or similar.
So I take get two Knorr rice or pasta sides and a can of chicken (in water). I make the pasta or rice using the water in the chicken can and make up the difference with plain water. About four minutes before the pasta or rice is done, I mix in the chicken. Sprinkle with parmesan or some other cheese.
Most of the time, I eat it from the pan while watching TV.
Chicken sandwiches or quesadillas made from precooked, frozen breast patties.
I keep Chicken pot pies in my freezer. Add grated cheddar to the top after it comes out of the oven.
Cornbread and soup. Cornbread from a mix is simple and bakes quickly. Heat your favorite soup. Vegetable beef is my favorite. I like crumbling a slice of cornbread in the soup. Butter a hot slice for eating separately.
Beef Enchiladas. Brown and cook half a package of hamburger meat with dehydrated onion flakes. Warm tortillas then roll with the cooked hamburger. Add your favorite bottled Mexican red sauce.
Peanut butter and jelly if I’m very rushed and don’t want to cook.
Even better, cook in the air fryer. remove, put them in hot dog buns maybe with a slice of cheese. Put this all back in the air fryer for a minute. Done to a turn, easy peasy.
My favorite way to fry an egg. Put it on a buttered toasted English muffin with some hot sauce and/or cheese. Holds me over till dinner time…Last night I cooked a busted egg, heated a tortilla, and wrapped the egg with some salsa and a slice of cheese like a burrito. Heated the tortilla first then cooked the egg, one little no-stick pan to wash.
Oh yeah, that’s on my list, too. Two slices of frozen bread (it keeps a long time in the freezer, and we don’t go through slices bread very quickly), put jelly on one slice, wipe the knife clean on the other slice, then apply peanut butter. Cut in half, eat. I only dirty one knife, and maybe a plate, both of which can be dropped into the dishwasher. And i have lunch. Add a glass of water and sit at the table to make it a fancy meal.
A can of Hormel tamales.
Dump in a square baking pan. Remove the “papers”
Dump a can of Wolf brand Chile. And grated cheese out of a bag(Kraft sharp cheddar).
Throw it in oven, well…til it’s hot.
And don’t forget it. It’s not a pleasant aroma if burnt
