ROTFLMAO!
Err, David? Run for your life. The last time Arnold used those words, medieval gardening implements were inserted in unnatural places.
Gaudie… read the post in question. It’s obvious that Brian did not mean to call anyone a weasel. He also states in his LJ, quite clearly, that he doesn’t remember much from that time.
Arnold… Man, look-- I’m not saying that Brian didn’t deserve to be banned. He did. He was out of control and angry, and he crossed the line far too many times.
So don’t be pissed-- I’m just saying that the “official reason”, as given by Ed, looks a little off-center.
Think I’ll bow out of this for the night…
-David
Oh sure, I agree; and for the record, I understood what you were saying. What I failed to express clearly (or for that matter, at all) was that I don’t normally consider the mods (human as they are) to unfairly post against a banned member simply for vendetta purposes. Mods are chosen in part because of their level-heads (and their wonderful and unique bribes Pia Zadora/Butterfly-style, as has been mentioned before), so I suppose I expect fairness from them (reasonably so).
See, I was more worried about the rest of us bums who, at times, fail to withhold our inner Mommy Dearests. Now, let me go put away my clothes hanger.
Un… unnatural places?
Surely you don’t mean…
uh oh
Yes. Switzerland.
Why would I be pissed? You mean because you say things like this?
Now why would that piss me off? I should be thanking you on bended knee for saying we’re untrustworthy.
Yes - the back of a Volkswagen.
Esprix
Oh jeez… Arnold, this is going nowhere. I never said that.
Take a deep breath and do this:
Pretend that you had just been banned from here, a place you love.
Now, pretend that the official reason contained at least one untruth.
Ok-- how would you feel? Outraged? Betrayed? Targeted unfairly?
While you may be built of sterner stuff, a good number of us might very well go vent about it elsewhere.
Which is why you should take what I said in context and overlook what was said in the LiveJournal.
-David
You’d vent about it two years later?
It would have been nice if somehow the folks in charge could have found it in their hearts to have given Brian one more chance.
Come on guys…can’t we all just get along?
Tolerating the likes of me doesn’t seem to cause a lot of heartache and Brian is merely a fraction of the ass that I am and he is also a much more valuable contributor.
It could work.
Maybe.
If I were still pissed about it, and I was still marginally connected to the community (so I could see what I was missing,) then yeah, maybe.
I’ve known people to hold grudges much longer than two years.
-David
I might if someone else brought it up, and there was a big “thing” being made of it.
I would just like to demand that a new area of the board be created, where a full dossier on every banned member will go. Also, I demand colorful pie charts and various graphs to demonstrate and exactly quantify the metrics used in each banning, in order to analyze banning trends.
Could you get that done by Monday? Great, thanks.
Am I the only person here who is disturbed by the fact that while this thread is about Satan, his wishes about how the matter is dealt with are being disregarded?
He’s already stated elsewhere that he has zero desire to be part of a public drama over the issue of his re-instatement (and has already stated himself that he pushed the envelope to the extent his banning was understandable).
So now we have a situation where a “public drama” has arisen against the wishes of the person most affected by the issue at hand, and where the admins feel they have to justify an almost 2 year old decision which Satan himself accepts without rancour.
There’s something very wrong with this picture.
Very good point, Reprise.
Sometimes our pals don’t want our help… I forget that from time to time.
So I’m out of this.
Arnold, Gaudy…
I’d like you to know that I hold each of you in the highest esteem. You do a difficult and often thankless job, and I should have been clearer in my posts of “well, look at this from Brian’s point of view” (especially since I seem to have lost track of what his stated POV is…)
I apologize for causing you to think that I couldn’t trust you… that was never my intention. I saw what looked a bit like a railroad, so I inquired about it. I can’t apologize for that, because I hope that someone would do it for me, if it came to that.
My (hopefully) final statement on this issue is that we had Brian posting for awhile, and then we had Satan posting. They weren’t the same guy… not really.
-David
Let’s add - I was able to slip under the radar for two warnings past my final warning? I would think to myself “Jesus Christ the reason they finally banned me had an inaccuracy in it” - I’m not willing to call it an untruth - “but hey - I manged to avoid the hatchet twice already. I was pretty lucky.”
I’ll grant you that.
You were right, I was wrong.
I should have done my homework a little better.
Mea culpa.
-David
Now that is music to my ears. I love being right! How can I stay mad now? Next time you’re out here in California we can go hot-tubbing together and I’ll break out the bubbly.
Bubbles in the hot tub?
Hmmmm…
