Is there such a thing as unconscious anti-Semitism?
or are people who have lots of anti-Semitic thought knowing anti-Semites?
Most definitely the unconscious kind exists. It is quite common. Like racism of all kinds the unconscious kind is often harder to deal with than the overt kind.
When I did well on my SATs when I was younger. A friend said, “Of course you’re a good student, you’re Jewish. Everybody knows Jews are intelligent.”
I once got a job because the employer thought all Jews were good with money.
There of course are those people who believe it is a fact that all banks and financial instutions are controled by Jews. Most of those probably don’t think much about it. They just think it is a fact neither good nor bad.
I would say that most people have myths they believe about “other” people and these in the case of Jews are anti-Semitic. In the case of different races they are racist. It really doesn’t matter whether the myths are negative or positive they are still anti-Semitic and/or racist.
Maybe subconsciously. Not many people have identifiable behaviours when they are asleep. :D:D
