Under 38? Over 23? Read this!

Here in KC we just got a new radio station, 105.1 FM. Their tagline is, “from Retro to right now.”

That’s a crock… all they play is Hits From the 80’s, and IT ROCKS!

In the last 3 days, I have heard:
[ul]
[li]The Safety Dance[/li][li]Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?[/li][li]The “Hey Hey Hey” song from The Breakfast Club[/li][li]Don’t You Forget About Me[/li]
as well as other hits by

[li]The Thompson Twins[/li][li]The Eurythmics[/li][li]Van Halen (pre-Hagar)[/li][li]Poison (Poison!)[/li][li]Run DMC[/li][li]Aerosmith[/li]
and others - too many to mention.
[/ul]

If anyone is so jealous that they want to move to KC, let me know… I can talk to a realtor for you.

cringe

give me Count Basie - a KC original.

And I’m 37.

Baby, give me a call when you’ve got news

Here in chicago we have 94.7 The Best of the Eighties AND Beyond, as well as 103.1 All Eighties All The Time…

I heard Send Me An Angel the other day and almost drove off the road with glee.

jarbaby

Sounds like the station in our town and I feel like fucking firebombing it every day.

Are you nuts? The Safety Dance? The Thompson Twins? **Culture Club? **And you’re advertising this as a good thing?

UGH!!! Nooooooooooo!

<bernse runs away screaming, hands covering his ears…>

I am jealous. Horribly so but since I will be moving to the KC area this fall, I feel better. Contact that realtor, MamaHen is on the way and the radio will be set on 105.1 now!

You would DIE for the 80’s channel on DirectTV.

The “Hey Hey Hey Song” from The Breakfast Club IS “Don’t You Forget About Me”, isn’t it?

I wish Tampa had a decent 80’s station.

Call and request Siouxsie and the Banshees’ “Peek-a-Boo” for me.

I was like that yesterday, hearing “Stray cat Strut” on 103.9

Pop pop pop musik
Pop pop pop musik
We’ve got Lite FM, whose tag line used to be “music from the '60s '70s and '80s.” now is --well, I don’t know what it is, but they play Billy Joel and Rod Stewart and The GoGos.

We’ve also got Hot 105. They play Bootsy and Viki Sue Robinson and Regina Bell.

Plus we got CBS. They’ll play any pop tune so long as it peaked on the charts at least 15 years ago.

I can hear Tainted Love and Love Rollercoaster and Why Do Fools Fall In Love all in one day.

Yes, yes. You’re right of course.

::Crossing off of crush list::

Peek-a-boo? (insert vomiting smiley here)

We have 104.1 The Mall in St Louis. When they first started it was great! (I heard Icicle Works, The Cure, TMBG, and Violent Femmes one day at work.I thought it was the greatest radio station since my high school days.) Now they seem to play the same 5 songs at least 40 times a day, with a few other songs mixed in. Trouble is, the songs they play are the ones I really dislike, like “Tom’s Diner” or “Hippy Chick”. Back to making my own cassttes to play in the car. <sigh>

Manservant! I’ve been crossed off the crush list of a poster who’s unwilling to get his Siouxsie on?

Where’s my Kleenex?

Hmmm.

Talk about having a flaccid ego in your hand.

Come bite on this rag doll, baby!

Here in Denver, we have 96.5, which has Nina Blackwood as the afternoon DJ. She’s not nearly as fun as I thought she’d be. The music is fun, but like most other radio stations, they play the same songs over and over and over…

If you’re into this kind of stuff, there is an 80s band (The Rusty Griswolds) doing a free park concert this weekend. This is in Cincinnati, which is it’s own punishment. I was planning to go to find out just what kind of 80s music they play.

Preach the word, monster. I detest her show now. It’s like every caller is so far up her rectum that they can speak out of her navel.

katiekilldare:

Now, don’t you fret, katiekilldare; owing partly to your self-declared Siouxsieness, I have added you to my own crush list. Kiss them for me!

Manservant Hecubus, what can I say to you? Only that I am deeply, deeply disappointed.

::Fiver crosses arms and spins 180 degrees away from Manservant Hecubus, shunning him Klingon-style. ::

Everybody sing:

“I used to think maybe you loved me,
now baby, I’m sure.
And I just can’t wait till the day,
you walk through that door…”

Oh yeah!

Only if they did 80’s cartoons 24/7/365.
