I think the reason so many of the ladies cited here are “underrated beauties” is that they’re more what I’d call “cuties”. Which is fine by me - I like “cute” far more that the “standard Hollywood beauty” look.

Speaking of women from 70s TV shows, I happened to see an episode of Three’s Company the other night and was reminded how very beautiful Joyce DeWitt was after she got rid of her perm and went for the short hair. Much much better looking than any of the blonde roommates. Here is a picture:

I’ve mentioned her before in similar threads, but Suzanne Pleshette was hotter’n fire! Most people remember her as the MILF from Bob Newhart, or the 2nd fiddle to Tippi Hedrin in the Birds.

I cite this often as an example of Hollywood standards. When I saw that movie, I didn’t get the conflict. I thought Janine was way cuter than Uma (at least for that movie/makeup/acting).

Tamara Tunie plays the medical examiner, Dr. Warner, on SVU and also played a lawyer on the original series. I agree that she is quite lovely.
I do not think Jill Hennessy is underrated. It is easy to find cheesecake of her. She was on the original series.

I’m a fan of Madchen Amick. She was on *Twin Peaks *back in the day, and was also on Joey, the horrid Friends spin off.
I’ve been re-watching old seasons of CSI. I had forgotten how beautiful Liz Vassey is.
I have always thought that she is a stunning beauty. She did an episode of Dharma And Greg back in the day and had a form-fitting red dress on that I will never forget.
Ellen Muth (Dead Like Me) was a babe. I really enjoyed watching that show.
And Britt McKillip, who played her younger sister, was a cute enough kid. But boy, oh boy, did she ever grow up nicelyby the time the Dead Like Me movie was made.
