Unexpectedly good photographs

I’m pretty amazed at how this turned out. The colors are genuine - it’s a glacial lake in New Zealand full of ‘glacier flour’ that turns the water ridiculously blue.

I don’t know how to post pictures. Would someone point me in the right direction?

The gray one looks alot like my little gray kitty. Except yours doesn’t have that “Certifiably Insane” look in her eye like mine does.

Thanks for the address. Do I just paste it in and send it over?

He’s positively wicked! But in a good “baby” way! Very cute!

Just get a free account at Photobucket or at Flickr and upload your pictures (the site will tell you how to do that). Then just copy the url of your picture and post it here.

Ok…hope it works.

This one was taken when my son was 5 months old. His dad had just had major surgery and was stuck recovering in bed for several weeks. To pass the time he asked me to go pick up some magazines for him to read. So I got him the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and an assortment of other “guy” magazines.

This one was taken last Memorial Day at Lake Mead near Las Vegas.

I just happen to like this one I took at an airshow.

I took this in 1966 with a 35 mm using slide film. Prolly my luckiest shot. The fish in the guys hand was 31 feet above the water and the tank ‘Clown’ jumped from was 30 feet across. There was a reason she was the tank boss and most favored. ( Sea World™ in 1966 in Fl. )

I’d assume so. I copied the link off their front page http://www.cuteoverload.com/ (Warning: Cute lamby photo.) Scroll down and it’s on the left, under Got Cute?

This is one of my favorite photos that I’ve taken, and I also took it out the window of the car. I was on my way up Twin Peaks here in San Francisco, turned the corner, and saw this amazing sunset behind Sutro Tower, so I stopped in the middle of the road and leaned over, stuck the camera out the passenger window, and snapped it.

More of my favorites.

My most recent favorite. I’m thinking about making a photo stamp out of it the next time we run out.

That’s beeeeeautiful!

Thanks! It helps that we have 3 butterfly bushes in the front yard that are covered with these guys right now; I’ve had a chance to practice.

Took this picture at a cheesy “luau” at a hotel in Hawaii. I didn’t really expect it to come out at all.

BTW, this was an awesome thread idea. Thank you, elfkin477.

This one is perhaps my favorite ‘unexpectedly good’ photo. I played around with the zoom and pivoted the tripod head during a 20 second exposure and created that dramatic result.
A normal view of the star. A former co-worker and I built that for our former boss. We used bow and arrows to wrap clothes line strings around the tree yokes which allowed us to lift the top three points into place. It’s just a 50 ft tall star made out of cheap Christmas lights and clothes lines and carabiners.
A closer look..
Taken from the other side during daytime . The star overlooked the downtown skyline.

It’s not always easy to capture the beauty of fireworks, but sometimes I am pleasantly surprised.

The WV Capitol dome at night.. I loved how the blue and gold colors turned out.

The Moon shines a tree silhouette. I did not expect much when I snapped that one, but it turned out kinda spooky.

The Mushroom House at night.

I played around with double exposures while still in high school a few years ago.
the apparition of me.
I’m not sure what to call this one.

The colors of autumn leaves. It looks like a painting.
Look again (zoomed out).
Same view during Spring.

The ice storm in Lexington (Feb 2003).
Leaning trees.
My car was caked in ice.

So many photos to scan, so little time

I took this one of my son one winter evening in DC. I think it came out kind of neato:

This was an experiment with a newish camera in a Napa vineyard.

I kinda like this one. I took it at Millennium Park in Chicago. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/karlen1956/detail?.dir=e701&.dnm=8b40re2.jpg&.src=ph

A cool moth in my yard.

More baby cats (I’ve posted this before, but I don’t think there’s a cap on kitteny cuteness).

Welcome  Your photo reminds me of one I took during the winter. It wasn’t unexpectedly good, just sort of unexpected. I call it “Vynce Harried by Demons.”

The “demons” are the lights on the railing in the wrong spot. How do you double expose a digital picture? I wasn’t trying to…

Heh.

“I will destroy you.”
