Unidentified Flying Object Spotted over PA

At roughly 10:00 AM Sunday June 22 a large yellow bright object was spotted hovering over Pennsylvania. Folks around these parts claim it is the rare almost mythical object known as “The Sun.” However local experts claim that “The Sun” is most likely an urban legend, or is long extinct if it ever did exist.

“This is very exciting” said one scientist said, who requested to remain annonymous. “If I can, in fact, prove the existence of the sun, who knows what other wonders can be uncovered?”

However, one of his more skeptical collegues was not shy about voicing his opinion. “Who amoung us can claim to have seen this ‘Sun’ in recent times? It’s nothing more than a myth” he scoffed.

Whatever this unknown object might turn out to be, locals anxiously watch the sky, hoping to catch another glimpse of this strange but beautiful phenomenon.

More as updates come in.

hurries to The History Channel to watch History’s Mysteries: The Sun Or UFO?

I have it under good authority that it was a weather balloon.

Well, the sun does exist, but it’s here in Florida as I type this. How the heck could it be in Pennsylvania too? Sounds like a mass hallucination to me.

I need ya’ll to look here…

Heh. I lived in Erie as a child, and I knew what this thread was about the instant I read the title.

Psh. Swamp gas.

I still remember years ago calling a friend in Seattle in April and having her start screaming on the phone because the clouds had parted and she could see BLUE up in the sky.

I still think she was hallucinating.

Maybe I’ll take some pictures of the clear blue sky I have outside and post em on the Internet. Then you guys can download em and print em, so you’ll know what one looks like.

I thought I might be experiencing a hallucination similar to Khadaji’s for a few minutes this afternoon, but it turned out to be merely one of those periodic shifts in the amount of gray in the sky.

I remain unconvinced that this “sun” of which you speak actually exists.

Update:

Scientists attempted to gather data about this UFO but it’s appearance was too brief for them to make any conclusions about what this phenomenon actually is or any of it’s properties.

An anonymous scientest stated, “This is why science can be so frustating, all we have are some brief observations and no objective data about this UFO. We can only continue to watch the skies and hope to actually prove or disprove the existence of this so called ‘Sun’.”

Whoa, a Doper from the Home of the Millionaires! Welcome to the board, Matt70!

But, pfffft. Believe me, if you want real sun-deprivation, move to the north of England. When I was on exchange to Leeds University from Penn State we went about 100 days in a row without seeing the sun, between late January and early April. I still remember the party we threw after the sun came out in April.
